After being referred by the hospital for psychiatric help, I saw a therapist twice, and on the second occasion he declared me low risk, and said I didn't have depression or anxiety. I know he is a professional, but I feel that he hasn't seen me for long enough to be able to say this. I feel low and like there is no way out, I feel guilty and like I can't be bothered to do anything any more. I am getting physical help for my acne, in the form of antibiotics, but I think also I need help for how I feel. How can I tell him that I want to continue with psychiatric help, but NOT with him because he is both intrusive and incompenent? How can I tell him without sounding " :boohoo: "?

Tell him how you feel in detail.

Don't lie to or keep things from your therapist, he needs to know everything about you.

I haven't seen a therapist in a year or so. I find keeping a diary of my bad thoughts helps me release them. At the end of the day I write how I feel, and all the negative things that cloud my mind disappear. It helps a lot when I get suicidal...

Anyways good luck with the depression.

= )

OK great, you guys have been a real help =] I have decided to tell him I don't think he will be able to help me, and perhaps I should try someone else at the same clinic.

Addie, your rat looks EXACTLY like one of mine ^^

Sweet! :) The more of the little buggers in the world, the better. :D

Yes, cute rattie...I got two from a pet shop about 6 months ago...but I think they were already pretty old when I got them and got no socialization whatsoever...either that or they are mentally deficient in some way, lol, because they are seriously the most neurotic creatures ever. My friend had a rat that was really friendly and not afraid of people at all, but mine tjust huddle in their little cardboard tube hyperventilating and run for cover if anyone approaches. I've tried to get them used to being touched and picked up, but it seems to throw them into such a panic I've just given up. I read that rats like exploring new environments, but if I take them out of their cage they just act so miserable. I wanted to teach them to do cute little operant conditioning tricks, but the only way they'll even take food from me is if I hold my hand perfectly still for like a minute, right in front of their nose, before they can even work up the courage to take it. Poor little traumatized and/or stupid ratties, lol.

Depression is not something to be taken lightly.

My daughter was diagnosed with depression and was sent to a therapist who she did not 'connect' with. Needless to say her condition worsened.

Blazemore, please do not dismiss your condition and seek help in another therapist you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts with.

Personally Im not a big fan of shrinks, first and foremost their practice is a business, so in most cases they become more of a negative dependency so therefore you keep coming back and what do you know back again.

All problems come from within, all change comes from within. I discovered more about life listening to pink floyd albums than actual life did.

Blaze1more time and throw on these songs.

I would recommend reading Accessing the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Its an excellent read, not only will it help you dissolve the past, it teaches you the fundamentals of enlightenment.
