What is the average lifetime of a pimple?

Recommended Posts

I broke out in these raised bumps under my skin on Sunday (they're were fairly large) I picked at them, which I know I shouldn't have done, and they became inflammed. Well 5 days later they look the exact same, big, dark red, and showing no signs of getting smaller. I can't see any pus or anything. My spots usually leave pretty quickly and I'm getting worried about these ones. I can tell they're gonna leave bad red mark. Is this normal? How long do bigger pimples last on average?

Do they seem like they are deep under the skin or are they right at the surface of your skin? If they are deeper, they might take longer to go away. You can try icing them a few times a day for 5-10 minutes. That will help reduce inflamation and redness.

Are you using any topical or oral acne medications?

I really don't know what's considered deep. They're definetly deeper than the pimples I usually get which last 3 days at most. But today I did just noticed they seem to be a little smaller. However I never noticed puss in them except for one. Can pimples go away without anything coming out of them?

..And I have stopped my acne topicals for about 1.5 weeks now, I was using retin-a and finacea. My derm just switched me to a sulfer wash but told to let this breakout settle down before I begin. I have been mixing in fresh lemon juice in my aveeno cleanser for the past 4 days or so and my face is so much brighter and it's clear except for this one breakout that is seeming to be impossible to get rid of.
