TooOldForThis! 0 Share Posted February 5, 2008 Has anyone else experienced a decreased appetite while on Accutane? I'm debating whether this is a side effect of the Accutane. If it's a side effect, then I'll take it! I LOVE food, but since I've been on this medication I don't have as much of an appetite. And it doesn't take much food for me to feel satisfied or full. It's almost like I feel hunger, but couldn't really care less whether or not I eat. When I feel hunger, I go ahead and eat, but usually just enough to knock off the hunger and then I'm good to go.Has anyone else experienced this? It could be unrelated to my treatment, but I'm just wondering.

TooOldForThis! 0 Author Share Posted February 5, 2008 Thanks guys! I'm glad to know it's not just me and then most likely the Accutane. This is actually a pleasant side effect for me, because I need to shed a few pounds anyway. Wow -- Accutane, the new diet drug! lol

Now i come home and im not hungry at all. So i wont eat until 5 or 6. Its kinda weird but im not complaining
colleenie 0 Share Posted February 7, 2008 I totally lost my appetite. One of my girlfriends just commented on how thin I got, and asked how I did it... I told her to pray for acne! lol
TooOldForThis! 0 Author Share Posted February 8, 2008 This is one side effect I'll be thankful for! I normally love food so much that I keep right on enjoying it after I'm full. Now I can actually control myself.
zxcv 1 Share Posted February 8, 2008 how is it possible for accutane decrease your appetite? if anything since starting, i'm always hungry.
TooOldForThis! 0 Author Share Posted February 8, 2008 Yikes! I wonder if has anything to do with metabolism. One thing I'm thinking could contribute to the curbed appetite is that I'm drinking so much water, I may not feel hungry. But on the other hand, when I do feel hunger, I don't have much desire to eat. It's really a strange thing.

PokerFace 0 Share Posted February 29, 2008 Wow, you people are losing weight?!? I've gained about 11 pounds in three months! (Although it's mostly muscle I think). If anything, my appetite has grown substantially.
amanda18 0 Share Posted March 27, 2008 I just started accutane about 12 days ago and I have already noticed a decrease in my appetite. I haven't lost any weight though, but before I use to eat day and night and never be full and now it seems like I get full... or rather satisfied a lot quicker. However, I have been craving chocolate a lot lately which is not very good! Haha! But... this could be due to the abundance of chocolate in my house since it was just Easter and I kinda got spoiled by the Easter Bunny!! I was wondering if this was a side affect of tane and I guess I found my answer!
ACNE FRIGGIN SUCKS 0 Share Posted March 27, 2008 I actually am experiencing the exact opposite. My appetite has increased , which is great because I am looking to gain weight/muscle mass. yayyyyyyyy
janeyjane 0 Share Posted March 27, 2008 I have noticed a decrease in appetite, I really noticed when I went to the cinema last night and actually didn't eat my body weight in pic'n'mix! However I have also steadily worked my way through more than a few easter eggs recently (it would be rude not too) so any potential weight loss will have to wait I feel! crazian 1 Share Posted March 28, 2008 It made my appetite smaller too. Hopefully I can shed a few pounds so I won't look overweight compared to the regular Japanese guy when I go to japan.
kelseyb 0 Share Posted April 1, 2008 yeppers... I haven't been on mine but 3 weeks and I have DEFINETLEY noticed a decrease in appetite. have to force feed myself sometimes so i can take my next pill. BUT... I have never been a breakfast person before and now I take my pill with food at the end of my day before I go to bed and wake up starving!?! I have to eat every morn now... but as for the rest of the day... Im not really hungryIce cream sandwiches are the only thing I really LOVE to eat now. haha
Helen_T 0 Share Posted April 2, 2008 I have been on Tane for less than a week and my appetite has definately decreased - dont think its a coincidence to be honest as I am a proper comfort eater and have been feeling sorry for myself the last couple of days!! It'd be good to lose a few pounds AND get rid of my spots too! Bonus!
drexel 0 Share Posted April 3, 2008 I'm the opposite.. my appetite has increased A LOT! I don't know if it's due to Accutane, but I'm liking it because I'm gaining weight (I'm a small fry who weighed about 135 and am now up to 145 in just a couple months). I'm also taking protein and working out, so that may be part of the appetite increase.
FeFe 0 Share Posted April 3, 2008 I've been on Accutane for a month and my appetite stayed the same. I'm actually trying to eat MORE because I want to gain some weight. I'm so bony.
RnTracy 0 Share Posted June 14, 2011 Me too. I feel like I am always wanting to eat. Especially something sweet. Idk, I am very dry. Maybe if I try drinking lots of water I won't eat as much. I do feel full quicker, but like I said, I do crave sweet at the end of the day.how is it possible for accutane decrease your appetite? if anything since starting, i'm always hungry.
