I tried using it some on my back, since I get PIH there that is pretty resilient and can take months to clear. But it didn't work out for me. It's too hard applying it specifically to the areas that are affected without suffering collateral damage to the surrounding areas. It is really like dropping a bomb on a small target. Meaning I did see lightening of the affected areas, but not without unintended lightening of the close vicinity as well.

It shouldn't make you break out as it has Retin-A in it which will keep your skin cell turnover high. What application are you using it for? Check the redness/pigmentation forum, as the scar forum isn't technically the right place for Tri-Luma inquiries.
