P Acnes Bacteria

Recommended Posts

P acnes bacteria are not the root cause of acne, however thay cause inflammation and swelling. Would it not be possible to vaccinate against this bacteria by injecting dead p acnes into the body so our immune system recognises this and creates antibodies in a higher volume thus rendering any live p acnes that are present?

Only a thought.

I think everyone, acne or not, has P. Acnes on their face. From what I understand, those who are acne-prone produce sebum with a different fatty acid profile than those who are acne-free. The specific fatty acids that acne-prone people produce seems to be ideal for p. acnes to reproduce and thrive more than normal. I'd like to know what's causing the fatty acid profile to be produced differently in people with acne than in those without.
