homemade cleanser

I found this recipe in a book and i love it! I use retin a micro on my face and sometimes when it gets a bit too irritated, i make a batch of this cleanser and it helps to calm everything down.

For acne i find the camomille flowers work better than the rose petals and it is easier to find. If you have camomille tea, you can open up a few tea bags and use that.

I have also make this recipe using green tea instead of the camomille and lavender. Works just as great. White tea also works well.

Victorian Cleansing Powder

2 tablespoons oats

1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers

1 tablespoon dried chamomile flowers (or red rose petals)

2 tablespoon pink of white clay

In a coffee grinder, finely grind the oats, lavender, and chamomile flowers. The mixture should resemble bread flour in consistency. Depending on the size of your grinder, you may have to grind the mixture in small portions. Stir the clay into the ground mixture and pour the cleansing powder into a clean airtight container.

To use: Combine about 1 teaspoon of the powder with some water in your hand to form a smooth paste. Gently clean your skin with this paste and rinse well with cool water.

Yields 3 ounces
