Im trying the 'Pixel laser', the poor mans 'fraxel' .

Its 200 quid a go, and im gonna try about 5 treatments.

Ive just got back from doing a 'test patch' on my cheeks.

They are red raw, but not swollen. I could smell the burning of my own flesh, so much for 'non ablative' lol

It felt like someone slapping an elastic band against my cheeks, but no blue die was needed.

Next week it starts for real.

Keep us updated with your progress hatethyself, i've got more faith in pixel laser, than i do in fraxel. Good luck.

Hey HATETHYSELF

1. Are you going to be taking before and after pictures of your treatment?

2. What were the staff at the clinic like?

3. What conditions did the man/woman say the PIXEL LASER would be successful in treating?

Thanks!

I am so happy that you are doing the pixel

I am going to get it done in January (during my break from school)

PLEASE, PLEASE chart your progress and let us know what you think..

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that it turns out really, really well....

TREATMENT NUMBER ONE

Just got back from it, my face is RED like WOAH, thank god I have the week off.

apparently it wasnt at the higest setting, they want to see how my skin deals with it at the intermediate setting first and then crank it up.

The pain was moderate, felt like a elastic band slapping against your face, the most annoying thing is the smell, it smells like your being cooked alive.

Since the tester patch i did previously bronzed and the skin flaked off in around 4 days, i hope it will be the same for this.

Overall I am pleased with the first treatment. Obviously I have to wait for a while before I see any improvement to the scars. Money spent so far, 200 quid.

SUPERCOPS to be resumed in 3 days on the specialists advice.

Hey!

I couldn't wait for your response!!!!!! I believe you'll be honest...

good luck.

http://www.jasonbdiamond.com/laserskin/default.asp#PIXEL .

I don't know who this doc is but there are instructions to follow after getting pixel. I thought you might want to take a look as well...

So, stay out of the sun and let us know about your progress...

By the way, can you pay attention to see if your pores get bigger or if you get any new marks?

Here's hoping the results make you happy...

Update

Its now roughly 3 days since I had the procedure, The redness has faded and have some scabbing left which is flaking off naturally, I KNOW ITS EARLY but looking at my skin right now..... it looks much smoother on the left side!!!! its like someone has 'repainted' my smooth skin back on. Maybe its premature , but honest to god I would call it a +40% improvement in the harshest of lights! , my right side is still a bit scabby and yet to reveal the 'new skin', fingers crossed!

Just wanted to share my experience with pixel. I have had 3 treatments with pixel over the last 3 months. I have noticed an overall change in my skin as far as skin tone and color go. But not a whole lot of change in my scaring which is pretty localized to my cheeks. I will say that my scaring looks improved for the first couple weeks after the procedure but the improvement fades over the next couple of weeks. I am told that my scars are fairly deep and they are somewhat old (8 years or so), so I assume those things need to be considered in the results and number of treatments needed. My last treatment was at the highest setting offered on the machine (forget the exact stats but 1400 KJ seems to be a number I remember) and my first two treatments were at a much lower setting. The treatments really weren't painful at all and the recovery time is not bad (I lay low for a couple days really because my skin is very red/swollen).

The nurse performing my treatments told me that it takes up to 6 months to begin rebuilding collagen before I noticed significant improvement with scaring and that I would need several more treatments to really treat the scars.

I am going to continue to get spot treatments just on my cheeks every 3 - 4 weeks for the next several months.

Update

The initial improvement has faded a little like I thought it would, from about day 3 to day 7 I actually saw my skin nearly completly smooth and I felt god-like.

Now about 2 weeks after my skin looks about a bit better in tone. The bigger scars look smoother and look like new skin is forming within these areas, I think that this treatment repeated could have some good effects on these bigger scars on my 3rd or 4th pixel. Still using Supercopx2.

As for the shallow scarring on the right of my face it has definetly smoothed out to the point where you can only see it in the harshest of lights, which Im please with, I think repeated treatments in these areas could nearly completly remove them (90%)

Since I have work constraints I wont be able to do another pixel till the 14th of dec which may lessen my overall improvement the dr has warned but what can you do?

I'm staying away from all acids and just getting ready.. I'm excited about this treatment.

Hatethyself, keep up the good healing and here's hoping that you like the results...Please keep posting to let us know about your progress...

By the way, can you let me know if the procedure has widened your pores or made your skin shiny?

I just went for my first pixel treatement today. I live in Vancouver, Canada and bought a package of 5 for $1600 at Dr. Braun's office. It didn't really hurt that much but it burns and stings afterward. Right now it is about 2 hours after the prodedure and it isn't stinging very much at all but it is red like a bad sunburn. I am female and can easily cover the redness with makeup which they said is fine to apply.

I have a bit of scarring that isn't that deep and I have large pores( they almost looked strectched). Where I have the pores and mild scarring, the skin is thick and rough. I am hoping to get good improvements in these areas. I used to have a moderate depressed scar but had a restyalne injection done twice to elevate the scar. It worked quite well and I no longer need any injections there. The doctor did some undemining/subscision while doing the injections and it caused the scar to elevate permanently to almost level with the rest of the skin.

The laser technician went more agressive in my problem areas and did something called "stacked". She said that once they see how I react to this session that they can go even stronger in these problem areas in my next and subsequent visits. I am going to take some pictures before my next visist so I can track my progress. The office took pictures but I want to have my own digital photos. I will keep posting my progress as I get more treatments. My next treatment isn't until Dec 21 because I have a Xmas part in a couple of weeks and don't want to be red and flaky for that. They are recommending I get my treatments done 2 to 3 weeks apart.
