VickMackey 0 Share Posted October 24, 2007 I was taking vitamin A supplements for a period of time with accutane and my joints started to kill. When I stopped the Viatmin, the joints got better. Same thing happened to my friend (he thought he had tendonitis). I strongly advise against the Vitamin A.

azcardskill 0 Share Posted October 25, 2007 You can try just taking a B complex vitamin.
m00sie 1 Share Posted October 25, 2007 I was recommended spirulina, which has a range of vitamins with no vit a. If you find a multi-vit that has vitamin a as beta carotene, that is fine to take.

m00sie 1 Share Posted October 25, 2007 You can find spirulina at health shops and online, comes in powder or capsule form. Beta-carotene is a naturally occurring carotenoid (found in carrots) that breaks down to form vit A if your body needs it. If you have enough vit a in your system (and if youre taking accutane you will) it just passes through your system At least i think thats how it goes lol
terry04 0 Share Posted October 25, 2007 Take a multivitamin for pregnant women they don't contain vit A as this is dangerous to a foetus (as we know) i took 'pregnacare' multivits-i'm in the UK
injektion 0 Share Posted October 26, 2007 I'm on Accutane as well and I'm big into lifting and nutrition, ditching the multivitamin just didn't sound too great for me ...I looked around and the best thing I could find was Universal's Animal Pak. It's a Multivitamin, endurance, energy and metabolism enhancer that comes in a little packet of about 11 pills (they're not too small either). The nutrition facts state that it contains 198% Vitamin A ...I looked online and was able to find that one pill contained Vitamin A, and Vitamin D. I take two packets daily without this tablet and in addition to it, take a Vitamin D/Calcium Supplement to replace the Vitamin A. I'm also taking "Animal Flex" for joint support ... might be worth looking into if you're active or male, though i'd say for the average joe, it's a bit too much.
