Nizoral to treat folliculitis

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I've been using Nizoral Shampoo to treat my dandruff and forehead folliculitis- it's been working great! But now I'm worried that this will cause the bacteria to go in overdrive! (my reasoning being that if antibiotics caused me to develop folliculitis, could anti-fungal medications cause bacterial acne?)

Input? I'm seeing my derm on the 31st.

So how did this work for you? Did your bumps stay away?

& also how do you do this process?

like for how long do you use it for before rinsing it off; how much do you use?

Oh wow blast from the past! :surprised:

Yeah, my bumps stayed away thank goodness! I'm still using Nizoral as part of my daily routine- I use about a dime sized amount or a bit less. I let it sit on my forehead and sides of cheek between 5 and 10 minutes and then I rinse, using my regular skin cleanser for the rest of my face.

To answer my own own question (from three years ago!) I can say that no, in my case, Nizoral did not encourage bacterial growth or pimples. In fact I have probably better skin now than I've ever had.
