Bye bye roacutane?

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I had Mild to moderate acne and it was driving me crazy I am on Roacutane now and I did wonders for me, got now 1/2 small spots left and I can live with it!

But now I am almost finished with my first session (16 weeks) of Roacutane, and I can't live with spots on my face to be honest I like the way I look smooth now...

So I am very afraid if I stop taking Roacutane that my spots will get back? I asked my Doctor if I could keep using the tane, but he said this medicine is pretty heavy for your body so it's better to do not! He also said this medicine will keep doing his work for a few years. To be honest I don't really believe it... and again I am afraid to get spots can anyone give me more information about having one session of Roacutane, and what happends when I quit taking this medicine?

Do I get my spots back or does is seriously keeps working in my body and keeping my face clear?

Please let me know!

ive never taken accutane myself (being a girl i went on BC instead to contol oil production) but anyways... ive read that accutane is supposed to "cure" acne for the long term even if you stop taking it (for most people anyway)... though some people need another round. hopefully you wont though...

It varies from person to person but people with milder acne will have more success in getting rid of it permanently. Some do have to take several courses before they get rid of it. Remission rate can be from just 1 month to permanent cure. You probably won't see any member around who has taken accutane and got it permanently rid off because they don't need any more help! But one thing I can be sure off for 90% of all users say that even though their acne came back, it was less severe then before they took accutane.

Just an encouragement, I remember a guy in the accutane forum who said he took accutane before and stayed clear for 12 years before it starts coming back.

I have mild to moderate too but my doc wont prescribe it, anyway you could tell me how you got him/her to give it to you?

To be honest my doctor was pretty easy about the fact that I really wanted a cure that works for my acne what was in this case Roacutane (already tried all the other crap).

But to give you some advice, the only reason in my eyes a doctor won't describe it is because it can damage your organs, and if you got weak organs it could be destructive... yeah yeah sounds pretty scary...

But if that is not the case and you are healthy, I would come up with something like: My acne hurts really badly, but a better one would be about psychological problems (which most of the people have with some serious acne). So try something that you don't want to go to school and go out etc etc... make a nice story I would say, and be creative ;)

I really had severe/moderate acne nothing serious... but I just felt so worse to go somewhere with these silly spots on my face... and I am so glad I look so smooth and clear now... I am a happy man now ^^

That's also the reason I am afraid it will come back when I stop the session... But it got some hopes...

are you taking supplements and eating right since you stopped taking it?

Taking 50 mgs of chelated zinc can really help with preventing big nasty spots

I went on antibiotics for a month with bp and it got rid of most of my moderate acne, combined with a diet that minimized breakouts I rarely get pimples just those little non inflamed ones like blackheads its now been a month now and I know the zinc has an anti inflammatory effect for me at least. Other supplements can help to, like a few grams or vitamin c a day to heal the redspots.
