I have a red mark that is lighter than the surrounding skin and the mark has defined edges. How can I restore the pigment back to that area of skin. It has been this way for about 8-9 months now. I have tried tretinoin (retin-a) cream and even some vitiligo treatment pills which had no effect. (No I don't have vitiligo BTW) and I have African brown skin? Is it possible to restore the skin color? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I asked my derm about hyperpigmentation and he told me to give it "time." Common treatments include IPL, microdermabrasion, photorejuvenation. I've heard that vitamin E oil fades red marks, but don't take my word for it. Hope this helps!
