excess sebum since bp

Recommended Posts

I was on dan's regimen few months ago..

I am free of active pimples now and currently dealing with

post acne marks. but i wish i never started dan's regimen.

My skin was never this much oily before. My skin's so shiny.

Like really shiny. Probably more shiny than pizza.

I am going to see a doctor today but i have already talked

to many doctors before and they said stuff like bp, stievamycin etc

absorb oil hence they will actually help with oil. But I think

my skin always counteracts and it seems like my skin has to have a

certain amount of oil everytime. I started taking pantethine and zinc.

But seriously, i want to have shine-free face like other people in my age(15)

without those supplements. And accutane is no-no for me.

I heard about nizoral and apple cider vinegar, but i duuno if they will help me.

any comments or suggestions?

Yeah I noticed that my skin was shiny when I was using BP too. I think because it's drying your skin out so it makes your skin produce more oil.

I resorted to using it only as a spot treatment. As long as I stay on top of the bumps I think it will work out. I am using retin-a every night and that has worked wonderfully for me.

Give it a try. Although sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. Good Luck!

It may just be due to your age. When we begin getting acne, it usually comes on gradually, and so does the oily skin. It eventually peaks. And since you are smack in the middle of puberty and hormone surges, it's very likely that your oil production is just now spiking and it will eventually peak. It likely would have taken this same course whether or not you ever used benzoyl peroxide, or any other topical.

For me, my oil was at it's worst at probably age 16 or so. I'm not saying this to discourage you, but since benzoyl peroxide does not have any known effect on the oil glands, this oiliness of yours is more likely due to hormones.
