Nuts and seeds of all sorts are good, preferably if eaten raw and not in excess.

the fat acids in them are good fat (like fishoil is healthy)..

ofcourse the nuts have to be raw.. :P

btw, nuts also have been proven to slow the aging process ^_^

Just don't eat too much of them - they have high calorie contents. I avoid peanuts, but eat some soya nuts (not acutally nuts but close enough) and a nut/fruit mix to help with digestion if i haven't filled up at the end of a meal!

I just cant get into eating nuts. i think the only one i kinda like is cashews but thats only once in a blue mood, I'm weird..i hate peanuts but love peanutbutter? wtf haha

walnuts are definately your best choice, it has the best O3/O6 ratio of all of the nuts.

if you are chowing down that much omega 6 per day (not just from the nuts) then fish oil or fish in general won't even make a dent in that

Nutritiondata's nutritionist Monica Reinagel says that the best way to avoid inflammation is to have a not too high (preferibly low) inflammation index. +50 for example is a good level.

The best way to do this is to remove or limit food with an high-inflammation index and to combine food with low-inflammation index and food with moderate inflammation index.

All nuts according to nutritiondata are highly anti-inflammatory except for walnuts and pine nuts that are slighlty inflammatory.

The Inflammation Index is way more reliable than any sort of n3/n6 ratio because of many factors including the amoung of n9 (which like n3 don't compete against n6) and the amount of anti-inflammatory compounds (which makes whatever extra amount of n6 irrelevant)

For example according to nutritiondata and Reinagel olive oil is extrmely anti-inflammatory in spite of a rather high content of n6 (balanced by an high containt of n9 and very high content of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory phytos)

Anyway a n3/n6 ratio of 5:1 is good and non-inflammatory compared to the 20:1 of average western guy. A diet which is rich in greens, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, olive oil and avoid processed fats, extracted plant oil and margarine provide a ratio of 5:1.

The real problem is neither the lack of fish oil or fish (which for the majority of people is just a modern commodity unknown to all inlanders just a century ago) neither an high intake of fatty plants and nuts. The problem real problem that caused such a negative n3/n6 ratio is the modern availability of oils and extracted fats (added to almost everything industrially prepared and sold on supermarket)

i was told i oucne dailt serving of almonds was the best. since mostly mono. fats and only 3 grams of omega 6. what do you think?

someone on here told me to get sunflower seeds, so i did!

i am having a hard time eating them to be honest, disgusting haha :)
