Need roaccutane a 3rd time

Recommended Posts

I went on roaccutane first when my acne was severe a few years ago now for 5 months, and I stayed clear for well over a year, I'd dropped out of college and wasnt working so I went straight onto Obagi skincare and used it intensly for around 6 months then had the peel, that helped with my scars and then skincare kept me clear ! but then I started getting breakout about 5 spots at a time constantly that when they went a new one would come straight away, It was hard enough for me to get accutane the first time around when my skin was severe so i knew full well no doctor would prescribe it me for how it was now so I ordered it online and it kept me clear throughout the whole course i just had dry lips (so i knew it was real accutane) but ive been off less than 3 weeks now and im starting to get constant spots again they're mostly just little but again as one goes another comes straight away ..

SO..

do u think it would be ok to order accutane again now only being off it for less than a month? it will most likely take a month or two to arrive anyway because I order from abroad.

I cant cope with acne.. even a little bit anymore, it makes me not want to go out or go to work.. i work in a nightclub and see everyone i know there on a regulaqr basis so it would be really embarassing plus im sick of not having a life because of my skin!

I was under the care of a doctor this time but if i order it again i wont be able to.. i just went to my GP and said 'Ive ordered roaccutane online so will you be able to monitor my blood' and he did, i just told him i needed to order it cause iget REALLY depressed over my skin!

He WONT be impressed if i order it again though so soon, especially cause hes now treating me for anxiety and depression too (which ive had throughout my teens but only just told him about it so he automatically presumed it was the tane  ) - it can apparently cause bdd though so be careful.. ive had that really bad for years. which is why now i can hardly even cope with scars let alone SPOTS! I ALWAYS think my skin is terrible even if ive got no spots just scars!

If im getting spots again i have to take tane really, cause theres no other option because it WILL ruin my life! I wont go out, i'll probably quit my job.. etc etc etc

i am not being unsympathetic i dont mean to be its just its dangerous.

I am horrified that a GP would allow that to happen and just go along with it and not refer you? Are you in the UK?

Yeah im in the UK, and even if he did refer me they wouldnt give me tane for mild acne cause like i said i had to see about 3 different derms at the hospital just to get one to agree to give it me when it was really severe.

The waiting list would be about 2 months anyway, and i was determined to take it right then before it effected my life too much, so even if he said he wouldnt monitor me id still have taken it, so its good of him to actually say he will monitor me!

He warned me about it though but said im old enough to make my own decisions. Its not against the law to order medication online! but they can refuse to monitor you on it because they are then responsible for you, thats what he told me, so i know he wouldnt monitor me on it if i ordered it now because he thinks its a really bad idea and is convinced its what caused my depression/anxiety but tbf now ive got bdd if ive got spots then thats enough to make me just as depressed anyway so not going on tane wouldnt make sense because its the only thing that works for me.. if i wasnt working then id probably do obagi instead but i cant do that while having to go out and things cause it makes your skin peel too much and look all red and flakey.

Ive already got a stomach problem and i wouldnt want roaccutane to make that worse.. but im sooooo depressed with my life, i just want my skin issue sorted so i can try to start living a normal life.

If you're needing a 3rd go, maybe you should see if it's hormonal. Talk to your GP. I'm sure they will be open to this - more so than you self-prescribing roaccutane.

I don't know what you've tried before roaccutane but I did read that one of the main reasons roaccutane doesn't work is that if the acne is primarily a hormonal problem…

Good luck. I'm sorry to hear that you have to go through this :(

I am trying to be helpful but you have just given me a huge list of reasons why tane is NOT really for you, and you have already tried it twice before i agree with shell, it could be hormonal.

I am not surprised if your GP said no to monitoring, but in all honesty he should help you out more than he is now - have you tried antibiotics or contraceptive pills or topicals? He can give you all of these, and you could still ask for a referral. Or maybe some support for your BDD and depression and anxiety

i had CBT when i was 19 and it changed my life

i dont believe accutane is the all curing miracle pill tbh

no its not against the law but its unregulated and you could be buying crushed up god knows what and swallowing it every day

Spiro is an option that is talked about a lot for hormonal acne. I don't know very much about it. The Adult Acne forum have quite a bit of information about hormonal acne.

Second is diet. Unlikely to 100% 'cure' acne but elements of diet impacts on hormones (the production of).

Personally, I am trying to approach acne from every angle…roaccutane is only a part of it. I am not convinced it is the miracle cure for 100% of users...

I wouldn't ever ever use this stuff without being under the care of a doctor you shouldn't buy it online

What did you do in CBT and how long was your course of it? In what way did it change your life? Im on the waiting list for that I could have to wait up to 13 weeks.

Im on 40mg of citalopram aswell. But hopefully i'll be getting that increased soon!

Ive tried everything over the years for acne, 13-16 was spent constantly trying everything out there, then at 16 they finally put me on tane. Ive had shit loads of topicals, antibiotics, facials, N-lite, lasers, herbal pills, vitamins, microdermabrasion, glycolics, MD skincare.. everything and it all did absaloutly nothing (maybe prevent my scarring getting any deeper but thats all) !

After accutane things do work better but i dont want to shoove anymore antibiotics in my system cause they dont help and im already on dianetter contraception pill which is probably the best thing for acne.. and i dont want to do topicals while working because it makes your skin look shit and make-up is harder to apply and stuff and i go really red easily so i'll look awful! the only way i can do that is if i stay housebound or something while i do it.. and ive been housebound for years of my teens and i dont want to do it again because i need to be working on my social anxiety more than anything and isolating myself again to work on my skin will only make me worse.

So in my opinion accutane IS the best idea because the only side effect i had was dry lips. I had to go to hospital once cause of a flare up of my stomach problem but it only lasted a day and they told me it would be ok to carry on taking the tane i just had to have a few days break from it and i was fine for the rest of the course and had clear skin!

I dont know, i cant go to the gym while on tane or work on my scars, both of those things are really annoying!!! But spots DEFINATLY look worse than scars.. and i cant let them get any worse so i dont know what to do.

Maybe i could get Obagi and just use it every 2 or 3 days so my skin wont go as red. that might help! cause then id be using isotrex and it would be helping my scars aswell, and i could have facials! accutane is the easiest option (imo) just dry lips to deal with and guaranteed clear skin while you are on it (I didnt have an initial breakout the second time) so id rather do accutane when theres no way id have time to do skincare and im doing stressful work or something that would make me breakout.. like in a year or two.. cause i know it wouldnt be healthy to do like 4 or 5 + courses of roaccutane so i dont want to have to keep taking it until im over 21 or whatever.

Yeah i trusted the website i ordered from, i do believe there are probably some scammer sites and pills out there but i think you would have some idea it was fake either by the look of the pills/the site/the packaging/or the side effects or lack of, when you take the pills! If you get dry skin or lips a few weeks after taking it you can probably be sure that its working and is real accutane.

I think you shouldnt order your own the first time around because its better to know what to expect and be monitored the first time and also to know what dosage is right for you! but once you know all of that then its not so bad to order your own the next time, especially if derms say its too mild to prescribe it to you!

I feel exactly the same way over any unprescribed medication - viagra etc etc

you have no come back if something does go wrong or any promise it is decent medication

I also think there are other options that you can explore - you can't take accutane every year for years on end when you have some breakouts

If you trust yourself to prescribe more than you trust a fully qualified experienced consultant dermatologist i can't stop you

Yes CBT really did help me i can't even begin to describe how. It taught me a lot of techniques which i still use today, I was experiencing a lot of panic attacks on a daily basis that were out of control now i can sense the start of one and control it straight away, but they hardly ever happen. I also had some obsessive behaviour. I was very stressed due to family problems over a number of years and had a lot of anxiety. She didn't get me to open up as much as i thought, but i did a bit, but she taught me a better way of dealing with things and understanding, and tbh it sounds like it would help you. Its a long wait but worth it for some people. Acne is a horrible thing to live with, but there is a way to live with it i believe, i have lived with it this long lol have kids, friends, jobs i am not belittling you just the only way is to stay positive and be grateful i am otherwise healthy and most people i know well tell me all the time they dont notice my face although i can't help but thinking they are just being nice

i was just pointing out that it hasn't worked long term for you, is it going to work again and where do you draw the line with it?
