How much do we absorb from topicals?

I've been using isotrexin (topical retin a combined with topical erythromycin) for 5/6 months now and I'm clear.

However,I'm uneasy about using this long term because I'm concerned about potential damage to my body.

Anyone know what percentage of topical medications we absorb into our bloodstream?

I know that pregnant women are advised not to use retin a products.

Studies have shown that if Retin-A is applied topically, usually under 10% passes into the bloodstream. More Retin-A will be absorbed if using more than needed on an area, or on a large area.

Several studies have been done to try to determine the effects of Retin-A on pregnancy. These studies have not found babies born to mothers using Retin-A during pregnancy any more likely to have birth defects than with mothers not using Retin-A.
