Getting Accutane in the uk

Recommended Posts

Ok.....I'm now 25 and still getting consistent whiteheads around my jawline area.

Ive tried Bp along with other topicals but all they do is make it red and sore and never get any real results.

Im sick of having constent spots on my face and feel theres no other option than Accutane only problem is how the hell do you get it?

My doctors wont even refer me to a derm and just keep giving me antibiotics (cycline) saying my skins not bad enough for a referal to see a derm!

Anyway my question Is the only way to get Accutane in the uk to go private?

And pay £200 per appointment?

yep if you really want it and its getting you down then the £200 pound is worth it..and its not even that much sometimes...the only thing is you need a referral from your gp just to see a private dermatologist aswell..or at least i did.

I'm HOPING its worth it. I've gone private as the waiting list for the NHS was far too long. If your like me and have spent literally 100's of pounds anyway on lotions, potions and treatments then you'll probably find that paying for accutane is nothing compared to how much you've spent on your skin over the years.

Thats the way i looked at it.

Will your doc give you a referral to a private derm?

yeah its worth it... i was in same position, cost a bmb shell. great while ur on it, not so gr8 if it comes back after....

How long would u say your clear for when u stop takein it?

The reason i ask is oxytetracycline cleared me up (well not fully) for like 6 months then it came back.

My Gp will refer me to a private derm its just crap how we have to pay alot of money for it when we already pay high taxes! this countrys gettin worse!

If you're going private, you don't need a referral from a GP as far as I know. When I wanted to see a derm i just called one up and made an appointment.

My GP said the same thing to me but I just absolutely insisted that I wanted to see a derm. The only reason they are reluctant to do referrals to a specialist is because the surgery has to pay for it.

I had mild/moderate acne and once i finally got the referral the derm put me on roaccutane straight away. Perhaps go back and state your case one more time before going private? Especially if your acne has been persistant and hasn't responded to other treatments.
