Listener 6 Share Posted February 6, 2008 I've been on B5 for three months now to no avail whatsoever on my face! My bacn is slightly improved but i am still mega oily.I've been on 7.5 grams per day. I've tried 10 grams and that didn't work at all so i thought might aswell save a bit of money i test it out for a longer duration on 7.5 grams.Any advice? Thanks. it's magic 0 Share Posted February 6, 2008 I was taking 6 grams b5 per day for one month (3 with breakfast and 3 with dinner). Then 2 grams per day for 5 months (1 gram with breakfast and dinner). My back was completely clear and my face had only a few blemishes that were healing. In the last 4 weeks I reduced my intake to 1 gram per day but I noticed that the good effects on my skin were reversing so I am back to taking 2 grams per day. I'll see how that goes for the next month or so.

ghuraba 0 Share Posted February 13, 2008 Hi there.I am 35, male with very, very mild acne on my back and shoulders. It was much worse when I was younger and I was on accutane for a while and it cleared up the majority of my acne but returned slowly but never as bad as it was. Anyway, I decided to try B5 after accidentally stumbling across this online. After 1 week I must say I have notice a big difference. Even though my acne was mild this is the best I can ever remember my skin being. I have been taken 5 grams a day along with a B-100. I think with my age that I don't need even 5grams as my acne was very mild in the first place so I will reduce to maybe 3 grams after 2 months if the current success continues. I had a mild headache for 2-3 days but apart from that no side effects so far.I was just wondering since this thread was started in 2003 and we are now in 2008 what is the general consensus on B5? Are there alternatives that people have found since 2003? How about Pantethine Acid instead of B5? I read about this some where and a much lower dosage is required but it is basically the same and just as effective.Anyway, nice speaking to you. Michael
gswarrior 0 Share Posted February 14, 2008 sup everybody (new member) been reading the board for a week or 2 and finally decided to get some b-5 powder, this is the stuff I got http://www.bulknutrition.com/p928_B-5_Powd...m=pi&c=p928My question is to anybody who has used this powder or a b-5 powder. When I mix it in a cold liquid it just clumps up and goes to the bottom of the cup. So I have been mixing it in luke warm juice and it dissolves very well. Is this common with the powder? Will it still work? I learned the warm liquid trick by taking other supps that wouldn't mix well. Any help or opinions would be very helpful thanks!

gswarrior 0 Share Posted February 15, 2008 Thanks WBAF, My main concern was that it was a bad batch cuz of the mixability. None the less ,4 days in and no new breakouts, I am more dehydrated then normal and have had bad gas, but so far so good. The taste is bad, but I like most people absorb powders better then pills, I know I am new 2 this sup but from alot of experience with other sups I have come to the conclusion that powder>pills (at least for my body) so my advise is if you can stand the taste go with powder. JoeBloggs 4 Share Posted February 15, 2008 Wannabeacnefree I always found that when mixing with fizzy drinks it would make it even fizzier to the point where most of the powder was lifted up to the top of the glass by excess froth, I used to use apple juice, It didnt do too much to disguise the taste, but I got used to it after a while anyways, good for mixing though, hardly had to mix it at all! Either way I dont have to put up with doing that 3 times a day now which is nice I think back to how I used to swallow 20 pills a day and I dont know how I did it

wanabeacnefree 0 Share Posted February 18, 2008 Ok, I finally got my skinB5 powder! In the instructions it says it is required to take 15g a day to see optimal results. I've never seen any info on 15g on the forum, it is always 10g/ day. Is powder different than pills??My understanding is that pills and powder are the same? When I started on B5, I used the powder and it recommended 10g/day.You should build your dosage up to 10g and see how that goes, before increasing it anymore.
it's magic 0 Share Posted February 18, 2008 Why are you weening off the B-5 Wana?I just feel my time has expired with B5 and I don't want to be taking it forever. After reading how breakouts come back when quitting B5 suddenly, I've decided 6 months of cutting down slowly is the better option.

theman25 0 Share Posted February 22, 2008 does b5 in doeses like that stunt growth like accutane does?
modtownshend 0 Share Posted February 22, 2008 My question is--I have been on Accutane twice--it has cleared my skin completely--but the first time time the ungodly amounts of oil returned, and then within about six months acne came back (MUCH more moderate than my original case--but nonetheless). Now that I am finished with my second round--the oil is starting to come back. My skin is still clear--but I would really like to try taking Vitamin B5 to stop the oil now again--before it becomes acne. Should I still take the mega-dose, even though I have no current acne? Or should I try for a lower dosage and see if it takes care of my oil problem? Thanks for any recommendations!

Why waste money on B5 when your acne might not return after the accutane. Or you can take a lower dose of maybe 1-2 grams and see if your acne begins to appear over time. Then increase the dosage bit by bit.I'm not sure how old you are but I know with me within 3 days I noticed improvements and after 2 weeks practically nothing at no more than 5 grams a day. But I have very, very mild acne and am 35. It might be the older you are the less you need as they acne levels are less and the things that might cause acne are not as great as a teenager.Michael
SaveMeFromAcne 0 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Hi,I'm new here. I've read most of the posts on B5 and have a couple of questions that I didn't see answered anywhere:Note: I believe I have mild to moderate acne, depending on the day... they are mostly pustules that most often become pus filled and I end up popping them. I have this problem on my face and back.1) If I follow the dosage that I have read (1st 3 days, 5g; after that, 10g..all of this for 3 months), how much B-Complex do I take (grams) and which one, i.e. B25, B50, B100??2) I read a few reports in this topic of how people have stopped taking it and the acne came back with a vengeance - is this true for people?3 Given that I don't want to be on this forever, how long should I take the B5 for (given that I reduce it to a manageable amount if my skin clears up)?4) Has anyone else seen this article and if so, what are your thoughts? - Post by Susan1967 (http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php?showtopic=99186&st=20)I'm a 28 yr male and have had acne for about 7 years (absolutely nothing until then). Sorry for all the questions but thanks for listening
