When I was young, I was continually trying out diets to keep off an extra 20 pounds.

One thing to watch out for is fats (30% of calories in lean beef come from fat), dairy (70% of calories come from fat) and of course veggie oils.

Fat has a little more than double the calories of carbohydrates.

1 gram of carbs has 4 calories. -- 1 gram of fat has 9 calories.

So watch out, when you think you are being careful with servings of various fats, you are actually eating double the amount on your plate. So very little can go a long way. :)

Cutting out just dairy products really made a difference for me.
