I am wondering if water hardness makes a difference as far as acne/breakouts are concerned. I was clear for three months when I was living in an area with much softer water than what I have at home and began to break out again when I came back to that area.

Speaking of water, does chlorine have any acne reduction qualities in it? I've noticed that whenever I am swimming at least once a week I never have a breakout (or have one or two subtle zits on my back or something, which are not a big deal). Or maybe I am just noticing this because my stress levels are usually low in the summer when I swim?

chlorine is anti-bacterial

and all the various ions in seawater help too

Ah, so that's why the sea salts are good for the skin! Are these sodium ions or some other element?

many alkaline cations like sodium, magnesium, calcium, etc.

many anions like chloride, bromide, iodide, inorganic oxides, etc.

unfortunately most large bodies of water also have lots of organic crap in them too
