alphabetic 0 Share Posted April 21, 2007 I'm consulting with my Doctor to obtain another referral to see a Dermatologist (my fourth one). Can anyone recommend a reputable Derm in Melbourne or Sydney, preferably Melbourne, who knows what she/he is doing and will show some courtesy towards scar treatment.Alternatively, from your experience, can anyone point me towards a reputable physician opr clinic in either of these cities (again, preferably Melbourne) who perform fraxel. I realise Dr. Skin is very much appraised on this board; while I contacted them via email regarding treatment, I got no response.Appreciate your help. Cheers.
Guest Grow To Overthrow Share Posted April 21, 2007 I was going to suggest Cynthia Weinstein at the Dr. Skin clinic. Though you should realise she's quite a toff at times, the Eastern suburbs will do that to a person. Personally, i feel she's somewhat of a cowboy, or cowgirl to be accurate, but i've heard good things come from her aggressive techniques. She can be nice though, you just have to be content with short answers at times. She prescribed me Accutane and i've not heard from her even once in the 6 months i've taken it. Have to make calls regarding pathology slips for lipid tests etc... And her invasive receptionist basically refuses me a conversation with Cynthia, and then i receive my required documents in the mail a week later. She facilitates my needs though, and the advice she shared appears to have been sound.
tabula_rasa 0 Share Posted April 21, 2007 A recent post "acne treatment overview" quoted an article by a Dr from the Skin & Cancer Foundation Melbourne who spoke of his results using Fraxel. See http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php?showtopic=147786Please let me know how you get on. I might be interested in fraxel in Australia.
daanzell 4 Share Posted April 21, 2007 I visited Dr phillipa mccaffrey in Sydney, edgecliffe to be precise. She's a pretty good dermo and her clinic is well established. The website of the clinic is www.clearskincare.com.au and she even has her own skincare range. She has some special scar treatment i believe, involes needling (i dont think its painful or anything). cheers.
alphabetic 0 Author Share Posted April 23, 2007 After much enquiry, I've opted to consult with: Erase Skin Rejuvenation Specialists, Dr Skin Centre, The Ashley Centre and Dr Greg Goodman & Associates - all in Melbourne. All I need to do now is book an appointment with each. The Ashley Centre provided an online consulation on their website - I found this convenient, and was kindly replied to the same day I posted my photos (for persusal) and enquiry regarding Fraxel. Concurrently, I emailed the other three, merely regarding appointments (second time for Dr. Skin) and have since yet to get any response from either of them. At this point, I'm leaning towards The Ashley Centre, admittedly for their excellent customer service and showing some common courtesy. However, I've been quoted roughly $850 per treatment (cheeks). Hopefully there's some Medicare rebate. From these clinics provided, which one have you sought treatment with (provided you have undergone Fraxel treatment in Melbourne), and would you recommend their service and costs per treatment? And the big one, are you satisfied with their results? Regardless, I hope to consult with all four clinics in person, as to get a detailed assessment of my scars and whether or not Fraxel is the right treatment for me. Look forward to your responses. Cheers.
