Neosporin+Pain Relief First Aid Antibiotic/Pain Relieving OINTMENT, Pretty Please With A Cherry On Top and Whipcream Tell Me If Its Noncomedogenic

I think I may have bought the wrong neosporin but Im not totally sure. I asked Willow569 and she sounded a little bit hesitant. I would like more reassurance. I need to know if it will cause breakouts. I used it but then I realized it might cause breakouts.

I've used similar antibiotic ointments and they do not break me out. I wish I could help more. Maybe look up the main ingredients.

I use the one that is the cream not the ointment and it doesn't seem to clog up my pores and it doesn't seem to make me break out. Elf

The ointment doeshave possible pore-clogging ingredients. The creamis fine. Do a search for neosporin on this messageboard - you should see some discussions about this issue if you are still in doubt.

Check the ingredients - I am pretty sure it has cocoa butter (which gets a comdeogenic rating of 4 on a 5 point scale - means it is very comedogenic) and also cottonseed oil, which gets a comdeogenic rating of 3 - somewhat comedogenic). Doesn't sound like something I'd want to put on my face.

both kinds have white petroleum as the base.

but you want the white kind in the tube with the thin nozzle tip.

not the tube of vaseline-like kind.

the cream has a lot less white petroleum as the base and is more readily absorbed and less likely to trap bacteria and cause an anaerobic enviroment by blocking the pores.

the real trick is to use a very minimal amount when apply it with a clean q-tip. then covering it with one of those little round bandages.

keep your nails trimmed short as possible and wash hands before performing the wound care. or maybe even buy a box of 50 gloves for $5 dollars at the pharmacy.
