Any alternative to hair gel while on Accutane?

Recommended Posts

It says you're not supposed to use Hair Gel while on Accutane. I'm assuming it'll make your hair fall out or something, but I'm not willing to try =)

Is there any other way I can style my hair without the use of Gel or something that I shouldn't be using on my hair while I'm on Accutane?

If not, then oh well. I'll just wear a hat, just wondering if there's a way though.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I never read that and I think it's ridiculous. I don't use styling products but I do dye my hair and haven't had any problems, so I can't see how gel would cause problems. Just get an alcohol-free gel, so it's not as drying.

I've never heard that, either. I used gel when I was on Accutane the first time with no problems. I've since switched to hairspray, and again, no problems.

Mousse and hairspray are your best alternatives, I'd say.

This is in the user booklet (Roaccutane)

- Dont use hair colouring containing peroxide, perm or use hair rollers. If you want to have a perm, make sure you do so at least 2 weeks before starting the treatment.

So yeh... i wont colour my hair, just to be safe. but didnt say nothing about hair gels.

Try using a natural alternative. Walk into a health food store, such as Whole Foods or Trader Joe's (if you know of these places, they're grocery stores here in cali, but natural food is sold) anyways, go into one of those and get a hair gel that's all natural. Or go into a vitamin store, they usually have hair products. Ask someone in there about it. It's much better than using all of that other crap on your scalp.

Aloe vera gel is 100% natural and is supposed to be a hair gel, along with a moisturizer, a burn soother, red mark fader, probably cures fertility issues..

I never heard that you're not supposed to use hair gel while on tane. I use it a lot, and I haven't had any problems. If you are worried, just use what I use: Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel. I heard that it can be used as a hair gel, so I started using it. It doesn't hold as long as regular gel, but it works pretty well. The plus side is that you won't have any gel buildup at the end of the day. :D

Hope that helps.
