Dermatologist Tomorrow!

Okay, I have a dermotologist appointment tomorrow. I want to see about accutane, but my skin does not look that bad right now. Do you think my derm will believe me that most of the time it's really flared up, and nothing will work? I mean, my acne is moderate at most, but NOTHING works. Do you think accutane would work? I have really sensitive skin as well...does that make accutane rougher to deal with?

They usually want to try a few different things out before accutane, unless you have severe acne. It can't hurt to ask though. There's really no reason to feel shy about it.

I guess I should have mentioned that I have tried things...I've tried clindamycin, benzamycin, differin, and retin-a...not to mention countless over the counter stuff. I really like shea butter, but I don't think I'll ever get as clear as I want just on that.

It's tough when you have a clear day for your derm. visit. If he does not want to prescribe accutane have him agree that you can call his office and have him see you same day when your skin is bad. Otherwise it's no good if you have to book another appointment 6 weeks out.

As for accutane and sensitvive skin, I have sensivitive skin and it's been okay. I'd recommend ONLY using soap and water and moisturiser though. Don't try any salicyclic acid or anything nasty whilst on accutane.

WELL, my dermo was very understanding and informative. She calmed my fears about side effects. Before I could even ask her about it, she told me my options, accutane being one. She said it was my best option. So, there ya go. I have my blood work appt. on Friday, and then she said we'd get it started! Wow, I'm nervous!
