acne scar and benzoyl peroxide question

Recommended Posts

I have moderate but inflammatory acne IMO. I started taking acnezine pills about two months ago without seeing much effect so I went to a dermatologist that prescribed minocyline pills, trentoin(sp?) cream, and a 10% benzoyl peroxide face wash. I have 2 questions. One is can I continue to use the acnezine pills along with the minocycline pills? Will anything go wrong? My next question is if I spot treat a scar that I have with the benzoyl peroxide will it reduce its appearance? My scar is a result of peeled skin. Even though it feels like smooth normal skin, it is a noticeable scar and since I have darker skin, I was wondering would the BP spot treatment work? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

BP is anti-bacterial in nature; it has no effect on scars.

Long-term regular tretinoin use may reduce the appearance of scars, depending on how old they are and what type they are.

I have no clue what acnezine is, so I don't know about continuing to take it.
