IMO, i was on tretinoin(a retinoid) and it really did nothing for my redmarks. My derm kept telling me that it is good for them but it never helped me. I highly recommend chemical peels. They are truly amazing, just make sure you do them right. Hope this helps!

Tretinoin and retinol are NOT the same thing, even though they're both related. Comparing them directly isn't fair.

I've been using that exact product, and it's made my skin SO incredibly soft and smooth. I'm not sure if the red marks have gone away anymore quickly than they would have without the product, but I can say that my skin is much smoother due to it and that it certainly did not irritate me at all. I'd give it a shot. I've also been using Neutrogena Healthy Skin face lotion with spf 15 in the mornings. It has an alpha-hydroxy that is also supposed to encourage tone evening.

All in all, I'm happy with the results, though I wouldn't say they're dramatic.
