DKR in the winter time

Recommended Posts

I've currently been on DKR for 6 weeks and I've found that it is working very well!

I went to see my derm today, however, and he was a bit concerned about the dryness of my skin (I'm also on an antibiotic called Solodyn)

He prescribed a 5.5%BP solution (supposed to be slow release and comes in a cream vehicle in order to alleviate dryness) and asked that I apply it once a day to my face instead of using the DKR. He also recommended a much smaller application.

I hate to go to the derm, fork over my dough, and then completely disregard him so I figured I'd ask for some opinions here first.

I feel the DKR + antibiotic has worked wonderfully. If I am experiencing dryness (I was told this...I haven't felt dry myself), wouldn't it make more sense to just use more moisturizer? Should I risk stopping the DKR and listening to my derm's advice? I will certainly continue to listen to him with regards to the antibiotic but having bounced around from 10% BP solutions, to 8.5%BP solutions in a urea vehicle, to 4% BP solutions in a gel vehicle, and now finally this 5.5% BP solution in a cream vehicle, I've found that none of them have really worked as well as DKR (I use the Neutrogena OTS 2.5%BP)

Any suggestions?
