Hi, I'm currently using an electrin (norelco) razor, obviously for the hair on my face. I was wondering if using an electric razor irritates the skin? Or which electric razor would you recommend?

My one looks like the 3-disc one:

OO

O

I really would prefer not using an ordinary razor, I always cut myself and seem to "trim" off my zits...WE GOT A BLEEDER!

i used to have one of those norelco ones. they're neat, but there are two downsides to them. yeah, they kind of make your skin a bit irritated, and it cuts the hairs so close, you have a greater risk of getting marks from ingrown hairs.

but.. if it doesn't cause these for you, i say why not use it.

I prefer electric razors for acne-prone skin. You really need a "wet" electric, though. I use the Norelco Advantage (the one with the "goo"). The only other I would consider is the Panasonic Linear, although it made my neck bleed! Gillette Sensor Excel is really the only blade that you should consider using. Whichever method you use, keep your equipment clean with rubbing alcohol. Change your blade more often than you think you should.

electric razors gave me ingrown hairs.. they suck at exfoliation.. which allows dead skin cells to accumulate and therefore ingrowns appear..

PS: Shaving does exfoliate the skin...I understand your meaning, but when you shave you are mechanically removing the dead layer of skin, either with straight razor or an electronic razor.

Remington Microscreen 3 is real good, cuts close but doesn't irritate, the circular blade razors are not good for me because when the blades start to get dull they pull the hair and it irritates
