tetralysal (Lymecycline)

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had any experience with these tablets before?

I've been prescribed it in conjunction with Azelaic acid. The tetracyclines have never done much for me in the past apart from making areas of my skin go strange colours

Hi

Yes i am on lymecycline at the moment and have been for 3 weeks. I only take one aday. At the moment though mine has gone worse! Is it supposed to? and also it has made my face very dry, red and itchy!

Sorry to tell you this, it may not happen to you though.

Lol I don't know if the acne is suppost to get worse before it gets better.. I hope not! Maybe it was just a coincidence it got worse while you just started the tablets?

I can't remember if the tetracyclines did that to my skin, its years since I last used them.

I've been on Lymecycline for about 5 weeks now - one 408mg tablet a day. I was taking the tablet just before bed, but apparently they advise you to take it in the morning

As of yesterday I have started to take it in the morning. Anyway, my skin is still breaking out but I'm blaming it on the cold weather we're having here. That and the drying effect caused by artificial heating (central heating, electric heaters, etc). My skin tends to get worse in the winter months........

iv been on lymecycline for about a year and a half and i think its great.

i used to take only one a day until 3 weeks ago when my derm told me to take 2 a day.

uv never experianced any side effects with them, apart from in the summer where i get sun burn (tetracyclines make your skin photosensitive)

all in all i like them, but in feb i think my derm is going to put me on accutane, as my acne is persistant due to uncontrollable oil.

Hi

How long did it take to notice a difference in your skin? I have been taking mine for three weeks and in fact its got worse. My mum says I need a urgent referral to a derm (mums are so understanding lol)

Thanks

hello everyone

Been on doxycycline for 2months, it took a lot of the redness away quickly and the acne reduced. The lumps which i had under the skin has all gone, its nearly all smooth. Went to my doc today, he gave me lymecycline for 2 months. Im hoping this will do the trick.

For doxy to work, it takes about 4 weeks to start working, i would say 5-6 weeks you start to see your skin change, not as red, less breakouts, breakouts may last longer, bad breakouts now and then, it happends.

Give me your views on "lymecycline" and is it stronger than doxy?

Thanks

i have always found lymecycline to be very good. i was on it for a while last year and my skin was under control, when i was taken off the tablets and given no replacement my skin got very bad within about 2 months or so then i was put onto erythromycin which did nothing. now i am back on limecyline and after 2/3 months its improving greatly! the reason i was taken off them in the first place is because i started developing acid reflux/heartburn over the summer which the doctor thinks may have been a side effect, but not sure really. i was on them for a year or so before that happened, no other problems.

Didn't expect to see this topic again.

I stopped taking Lymecycline a while ago and i've been taking doxycycline for the last 3 months and it's working really nicely. The problem I had with lymecycline is that it has to be taken on an empty stomach, so it never really worked for me.

I 36 and have been on Tetracycline for a few years (I know, not good) to help control mild-moderate inflammatory adult acne but my skin seems to have built up a resistance to the anti-biotics. My dermatologist recently switched me to Lymecycline (400mg in the Morning) as she says it generally commands better compliance. It can be taken on a full or empty stomach and is easier to remember to take as you only have to pop one a day normally. I have been on Lymecycline for four weeks and think things are slowly beginning to improve.
