I count this amongst body acne - my neck breaks out horribly. My face is generally clear besides my jawline and chin. The acne is cyst-like, and they become painful to touch and very red. I never pop them. After they clear up (usually in 2 weeks or more), I have terrible red/purple scars for at least a month before they start fading. I'm 20 years old and have a fair complexion. Does anyone have suggestions for ridding my neck of this? It never feels too oily and it doesn't become dry and flakey. I hate putting concealer on it, but otherwise I feel like a monster.

I sometimes break out on my neck......with quite large spots and i really only suffer from whiteheads/blackheads on my face. I find it quite embaressing cause people have asked wehats that before. I have no idea why i break out there.....sometimes i think it might be more allergy based but who knows.

Sara Jean - cystic acne that is localized around the jawline usually indicates that the acne is hormonal in nature - does it seem to always flare at the same point in your menstrual cycle? Do you have a regular period, or is it irregular? Any male pattern hair growth? Weight gain around the middle that's hard to lose? Known issues with insulin?

I'm currently taking Depo-Provera for birth control, which has caused a disruption in my cycle, but my acne has really flared up since I recieved the shot. I am mostly slim and in shape, and I have never noticed any excess hair growth.

neck acne is the one of the worst to treat i think. all of a sudden, i started breaking out on my neck in small red spots. looks like a rash, but its not. i went to the derm and he said to put my topicals for my face on my neck twice a day, using lots of moisturizer. this is very irritating, the neck is a very sensitive area. i can only use topicals once a day, sometimes not even that. but it has helped! Retin-A micro and BenzaClin are what i use.

Ah, i see. You may want to consider some different birth control options.

I used to get the occasional large pimple on my neck, but there would never be more than 1 or 2 at a time. I use Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel and jojoba oil on my neck and that seems to work pretty well. After showering, I apply 4-5 drops of jojoba to my palm and then squeeze out a fingers worth of aloe vera and mix the two and gently apply to my neck. This has kept my neck looking pretty good, and I recommend it to others to try. Good Luck.

I have the exact same thing..where it looks like a rash. It was so random how it happened..because I never ever broke out on my neck or jawline before. It was like one day I woke up and saw it. It's much more difficult to clear up than the acne on my face. It's sometimes very itchy and dry. I tried fruit of the earth aloe vera gel but it seemed to dry it out even more.

try some salicitic acid in the mornings. I use Clean and Clear in the purple bottle. then use BP at night but just a LITTLE bit.

I struggled so hard with neck probs and have found that trying the same approaches and quantities you use on your face is guaranteed to make things worse.

What worked for me was to stop all treatments on my neck for about 3-4 weeks to let the irritation settle and then slowly add the use of products. for example, my neck is totally clear now that I use Paula's choice salicylic acid 2% liquid once a week or so. That's all my neck can take otherwise it will breakout.

It sucks because I would like to use sunscreen on it, but I have found that sunscreen easily clogs pores there and causes breakouts.

HTH

I did a wholes year worth of depo, and man did it tear up my skin  ! ONLY ESPECIALY in the jawline and neck.. i REALLY REALLY think that depo is probably aggravating a milder case of acne to make it worse . at least thats what happened with me. I had to do a serise of levulan treatments to get my skin to stop breaking out! ugh! deffinitly switch up your BC, i reccomend Ortho tricyclin, but thats just me. hope all works out! also remember that its going to take a few months to clear your system comltetly of the chemical if you decide to stop, so you will probably see your skin gradualy get better..
