Which First? Mino or topical?

Recommended Posts

Im 18 and have been struggling with acne for about 3 months. Im guessing that my condition is moderate acne, but no so sure. I went to the doctor the other day and he gave me a regimen. Anyways, I was prescribed Minocycline ( 100mg, 1x daily), Retin A (At night), and Benzaclin (Morning). Right now, I am recovering from an illness and taking a prescription antibiotic. The doctor told me not to use any other antibiotics while on this one.

So I guess my question is this. Should I begin my Retin A/ Benzaclin regimen now, and then wait a week to start taking Minocycline? Or should I begin the entire process once I can begin taking Minocycline? I'm thinking holding off will be better for breakouts, but any thoughts would be helpful.

I would wait until you're off the first antibiotic to start the entire regimen. The minocycline will be useful to you in avoiding a nasty initial breakout with the Retin-A.

Spotts correct.

wait till you finnish your meds for your ilness, ( get well soon :) ) and then take minocycline for a week before starting your bezaclin/retin a gels.

this will help you not breakout initially from the benzaclin :)

get well soon and good luck :)
