i looked at myself in natural sunlight...

Recommended Posts

and my face looked like CRAP!

i noticed that on some parts of my face, where my skin has active pimples, bumpy or flaky skin.. the makeup looked kinda obvious. i noticed the colour is a tiny biny too peachy for my yellowy skin... but then too light for my forehead?? ugh my bathroom lights are sooo good to me and make me feel good but i never realized how crappy i looked in reality under natural lights. well i was kinda aware of it but i always avoided it cuz i knew it'd make me feel really depressed... is this what people see on my face?? =(

i hate this...

I know exactly what you mean. I saw myself in natural light and just gasped. It really did a number on my already low self esteem. Skin looks so much better in regular lightbulb light as opposed to sunlight and florescent lighting. I just hate that. I'm thankful that at least now I found makeup and the right color so natural light doesnt make such a dramatic difference. Skin problems just suck.

When you go to the store to get a new makeup, put a tiny dot on your cheek and forehead and then walk over to a window. Use a compact or something to see how the makeup looks on your skin in the natural light. It really helps when picking a true to you shade.

I have to exact opposite problem. It is weird, but my makeup looks best in the sun or florescent (sp?) lighting. It is okay looking inside but looks best outside. It is slightly too pink under an incandescent (sp?) bulb but perfect looking under the sun or the florescents.

i HATE florescent lighting. yeah, my makeup looks better indoors than outdoors too. i mean it looks flawless in direct sunlight, but under the shade you can see almost everything i've covered up. and i mostly don't worry about pimples showing through because i rarely have any, but it's my hyperpigmentation that SUCKS :/.

OMG... FINALLY SOMEONE FEELS HOW I DO!!!!!!

I have this mirror right beside my front door... and every morning when i walk out of it the natural sunlight comes in and i look in the mirror at my skin and just want to cry.... its awful...

the funny thing is... SOMETIMES while indoors I think "hey, my skin doesnt look too bad today" and then I go outside and my mind is instantly changed

it makes me so sad that we all have to deal with this :(

yes i'll have to do that tomorrow. i'll be running back and forth from the aisle to the window, i bet the salespeople are gonna give me wierd looks

grr. makeup. i get sooo lazy sometimes to do it but i look so crappy without it. i envy girls who dont need makeup to look naturally beautiful.

AHH, just reading the title nearly gave me a panic attack... 'natural'...'sunlight'...noooo. I've done this before too, I'll be feeling brave and I'll look in a mirror on one of those really bright sunny days, and my God I wanted to die. Big, big mistake. Every single inch of my face was lit up with red marks, bumps, scars, makeup looks like crap and I probably gasped in shock or something at the horror that was my face. I really do think though that we don't look as bad as it seems in those kind of mirrors, I agree with the person who mentioned about the mirrors shining extra light onto your face, I think that makes it look a lot worse than it actually is. It took a while for me to dislodge that disgusting mental image of my reflection from my brain but eventually it faded away and now I generally only look into mirrors in dim lighting or when I've got 5inches of moisturiser on to hide behind. Lesson learned for me. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.

uggghh i can definitely relate. i thought i had finally found some makeup that didnt get flakey and orange and nasty, but then last night i went to the bowling alley with my boyfriend and they have fluorescent lighting...and he just blurts out "you're wearing lots of makeup today aren't you? lots of crusty makeup..." and just the other day he said "i dont know why you even wear it, you look the same except your skin is crusty." he's always making comments about my skin...like i dont realize how awful it looks.

i can't use the BP, it dries the hell out of my skin no matter how much i moisturize (hence the "crustyness") and its giving me weird rashes and red spots everywhere...my mom just bought a bunch of different homeopathic pills and gels and stuff from a healthfood store...maybe something will help?? nothing ever helps. i have possibly the worst skin ever.

Why don't you get your friends to do a "makeup check" on you? That's what I make my friends do for me anyway. It's funny how I always ask the guys about how my makeup looks instead of the ladies. I guess for me when a guy is okie dokie with it, then all is fine and dandy.

i can completely relate...there have been so many nights that i take a ton of time to do my makeup, think i look ok, then go to the bathroom with bright flourescent lights. when i see my flaky, blotchy skin, i run back to my room and redo my makeup. i hate how much time i waste everyday dealing with my skin and makeup when i could be studying or socializing.

I do this all of the time with my close friends and husband. So far, even though I think I look horrible they tell me that my makeup is fine. I'm especially happy when my husband tells me he likes my makeup that day :)

*sob* I hate the bright sunlight. If I go past a bright window at school, I let my hair fall in front of my face so people can't see me. I especially hate when I'm in a parking lot on a hot sunny day and my reflection is on every car I look at. I see every blemish I tried to cover with make-up and I too spend a lot of time in the morning on my face.

I had a rough experience today at school. There is this group of preepy, good looking girls in my Bio class and they ALWAYS talk about how pale and bad my skin is during class amongst each other; They do it practically everyday! Anyway, one of them actually came up to me while I was trying to ignore them by talking with my two friends. She asked why I wore so much make up and why I wore it so badly. It made me depressed for the rest of the day. I didn't want to say I had really bad skin so I told her I had a disease. She then went back to her table and told all her evil friends. I dread going to that class now and I get depressed even more when I think about it! >_< My friend threatened to pummel her and I should've said yes.
