Hey just wanted to say hi, and introduce myself.

I don't have acne...ok ok put the flame guns down because I did have acne. When I was a Teenage I had a very sever case of cystic acne, I was lucky as it was on my back. I was told by my dermatologist who had been in the field for 25+ years that I had the worst case she had ever seen, either in person or in documentation. I was on Tetracycline, no help. Went in for weekley treatments of some topical stuff that smelled of sulphur...not much result. Moved on to Accutane, which helped some, but the side affects (Bloody boses, dried skin, cracked lips, mood affect) wasn't worth the results. Then was on to Retine, which really just dried the surface up. I was a HS athlete and played baseball in college. in HS I received the lockeroom nickname of "Zit Farm" it was great, absolutley loved that one, so did the guy who coined it when he found himself with the ball and only me between he and the endzone.

Anyway, enough about me, I am here mostly to offer help, if I can. My most loved one suffers from acne and the resulting stress and depression that some are afflicted with. Hopefully I can help you guys at least start to feel better about yourselves, because we can all do so.

Hi, and welcome!

out of curiosity: how did you clear up? Did it heal over time, or did you do something?

It basically went into what I would call remission. I am 31 now and on occasion get what I consider a small zit or 2 on my back, now let's put that in perspective though what I had before, the inflamation at times could be nearly as big around as a penny. I think one of these days I'm going to have my wife count my scars, I think my back is seriously more scar tissue than not.
