Reminiscing on the past.

A while ago I thinking of how I used to feel, and how many strides I've made since then to be where I am now. So, I decided to write a poem. This is what I came up with.

It's currently untitled. Maybe some of you can relate. Anyway, just thought I would share.

I simply cannot walk away

It's like a nail through my heart

But escaping was the pain

Each star across the sky above

Will never, ever be enough

You can't save me

It's not your place to try

It's already happening

The dimming of the light inside

We will always question

Why it happened

But in time it will never be

As we had once pictured

The empty space in the frame is me

Don't surmise

It's just how I feel inside

Always reaching but never held

Fluidity overwhelms my lungs

Whispering to a world

Whistling with the wind

A piece of the story

You can't rescind

Wounds trying to mend

This is why we pretend

This is why we give in

On the other side we can defend

And be rejected like the messages we send
