I have had my hypertrophic scar for two years. It get better, but it doesnt go away. Cortisone injection did it for me. Hopefully, I get smoothbeam treatment to eradicate small lil bump.

They say old people rarely get hypertrophic scarring so maybe - eventually - they would reduce on their own, but unless you are nearing 80 you may need a cortisone injection or silicone sheeting for them to get better.

what is a hypertrophic scar exactly and what does it look like? im hoping that not what i have cuz it seems hard to get rid of..thanks

Emma - sometimes a cortisone shot can slightly indent a scar - you may want to try out the silicon sheets first though: www.cicacare.com
