F*CKIN PICKING

Hi im 14 years old and i have mild to severe back and chest acne. im starting to use sea salt and it seems to be helping....but i just keep on picking.this is how my acne got worse in the first place. i know this is stupid but does anyone have any ways they keep themself from picking and popping zits? (I HAVE NO SELF CONTROL)

I have the same problem, i try and try but if i have a yellow spot... i HAVE to pick it! Now i wish i hadd'nt! I am the same age as you andhave had acne for about....4 years, i got it really young and kids at school thought i had chicken pocks. grrr

I don't really no what to say but i am trying this:

* Try and change in the dark or with ur eyes closed and just change quickly without looking at your back.!

* When u see a spot tuddle ur thumbs and just convert your mind to somthing eles!

I don't know if any of these will help but i wud give it a go!

Ive been a popper and picker for at least 6 years now.i hate whiteheads...! i dont have severe acne.and to date i still dont have any scars from acne.it depends how you pop it.i just pop it with a pin and get the gunk out.i dont go and squeeze my face till im crying.just take it easy....

ye but i just cant stop like its just uncontrolable. i wish it hurt when i touched my skin so i would learn not to touch it/

- wear gloves so you can't feel the bumps or scratch

- wear turtle-neck shirts so your hand can't reach your back/chest

when i get a urge to pick at my pimple, i would make a fist and grin my teeth, especially at night. or i would bite my finger, wat ever u don't pick it.

dont look in the mirror unless you have to. when you have only do it with the hall light on in semi dark. its the only protection from picking. that or OCD medications which dont really work.

Or you could see some pics of people with scars that might scare you straight. Or you can wait till you get your own self inflicted scars then spend nights home lamenting your picking, that will make you too depressed to pick.

Get my drift? Capeesh?

I have that same problem!! It's so depressing, isn't it? For me it's mostly my face which I pick and squeeze the most. But my chest too and sometimes my legs when I am feeling really bad. I think it's almost become a type of OCD really, because I really don't want to do it and it makes me feel terrible but I am just so compelled to do it. Mostly when I'm stressed/depressed.

Anyway, because it's mostly with mirrors, I cover mirrors up with scarves, sometimes even remove them from rooms, such as the bathroom completely. Another thing I've tried recently is popping bubble-wrap. Because that's kind of a release too, and I'm really bad at fiddling with things, and picking at my face constantly, just absentmindedly when I'm sitting reading or something, so that's been pretty good. I also have a little wooden statue type thing of Dispair, which I hold really tightly to keep one hand occupied, say if I'm holding a book in the other. I have tried various beads and shiny pebbles too.

It is so fustrating, I really understand where you're coming from. My acne really wouldn't be that bad if I didn't pick and squeeze it, but I'm finding it so hard to stop. I've considered going to the doctor and asking to be referred to an OCD specialist or something. Sorry I've written so much, I've been needing to talk about this for a long time I think, I have felt better since coming on this board because so many people are facing similar things. I haven't really offered any very good solutions either.. but the bubble-wrap thing is quite good, and I like the elastic band idea that someone else had too. I find i succomb to when I'm feeling weak and insecure, and I can resist it and fight it when Im feeling strong. So, take courage! And know that there are other people who have the same problem, and it is something that can be conquered, I'm sure! I am still hopeful..

it sucks, in your head you know picking wont make it go away any faster, but theres something about it thant when you do it you think its gunna go away quicker..

I keep my nails cut short. I also limit my time in front of the mirror and only look in it when I'm applying makeup or acv while I'm looking in the mirror if I see a spot I remind myself that if I play with it or squeeze it it's gonna look much worse. I only pop if a spot is ready to be emptied. I apply a warm wash cloth to it to soften it up and then use a tissue over my fingures and gently squeeze. I used to pick to much though, now that I got myself under control my face looks much better. Every time you wanna pick just think of how much worse your face will look.
