Hey lovely people. Thanks for popping in

Just a quick question. I broke out something bad July this year and ive been (still am) on roaccutane. It's been a month and a bit so far. In that time it has helped flatten my lumpy pimples. I'd say my face is 97% smooth. What i want to know is.. looking at my photo, is this going to clear? ive seen a lot of "redmark" pictures on here but nothing really compared to mine so i couldnt help asking for your opinion. Theyre new mind you, and extremely red

Thanks for your time, appreciate it

xo

AND GOODLUCK TO EVERYONE BATTLING OUT THE RED MARKS!!

dunno whats worse... acne itself or the leftover marks..

no, its going to be hard to get rid of those red marks and they wont go away anytime soon unless you try these 2 products

50% glycolic acid

or

level 6 green cream

i used to have 3 times more red marks than you, but today i barely have any and they arent even noticeable, i used glycolic acid to cure mines, it takes about 6 weeks because you onlyl apply it once a week

also try green cream if you dont want the glycolic acid, some people have gotten GREAT results within just using it for 1 to 2 weeks.

which one is better?

idk, but to me the glycolic acid worked better for me

bye and good luck

Hmm, everyones talking about Gycolic acid. I'm not familiar with this term cause i just recently overcame the battle with my active acne, now its the red marks i have to worry about - all this stress is definately not healthy

Ok so could i still use gycolic acid even if im still on roaccutane? I'll talk to my derm about it next weeks appointment. THANX buddy, appreciate it

u cant use whilst on accutane, it may cause hyperpigmentation. Its recomened you dont use it atleast 6 months after ur course.

Start putting neosporin on those red marks right now! They will heal and fade faster.

Accutane will make your red marks more noticeable. It probably won't look so bad after you finished Accutane.

Get a good moisturizer with spf. Sun makes red marks worse. So does dryness.

Glycolic acid at 50% seems really high. I don't think people normally use that high, and it may cause pigmentation dmg which is even worse.

Finish up your accutane treatment first before you do anything extreme. Your skin is more sensitive, and you might just end up scarring yourself if you use glycolic acid while on accutane. Even when you finish, wait at the very very least a few months. Then talk to your derm.

Tazorac, Retin-A is what I'm using for my red marks. I think its helping, but it takes a while to see improvement. Like 1-3 months.

Or you can try out lasers. If its not too $ for you.

Yah no acids or lasers or dermabrasions on your face after 6 months of Accutane at least.

Sorry. This forum can make you impatient. Don't try anything drastic like some people have done on this board and burnt themselves with acid.

Also you still look good with red marks so cheers.

I have redmarks (but now they have turned into brown becasue I am an asian) just like yours, MAINLY on the cheek. For me, redmarks on cheeks take forever to disappear, not completely though.

I am going to try 30% glycolic acid soon.

But, I think you should finish your roaccutane first before doing the peel. Remember to wear sunscreen SPF30+ while your skin peels.

Have a look at this AMAZING 1-month accutane result. I am impressed.

Try some gentle peels. Nothing too harsh sweetie. You dont want to further irritate your skin. Keep your head up, you are very beautiful.

Oh really? Ok well i wasnt getting it anytime soon cause i thought id wait out a lil. My next appointment with my derm is in 2 days so ill ask her bout my spots. If i hear anything useful and not "money greedy suggestions" ill be sure to post it here.

damn acne ruining a pretty face

is that supposed to be a compliment? keep those remarks to yourself

HAHA, thanks Mark, i think it was a bit of both or just plain symapthy.. all good =)

but i think they are still pretty active...aint they?

Well i guess u could consider them still "active" only because they recently went down from being pretty inflammed. Guess ill give it a few weeks and see if good ol' TIME is helping..

Aww it sux ey?? i also heard the cheeks are the slowest area of the face to heal in regards to redmarks :( Hope it all works out for u!!

I hope its cause of the accutane, it doesnt help when i have kinda pale-ish skin. although my body is fairly tanned, damn make up with spf!! haha then again its doin me a favor from keeping spots out of the sun  Yeah, i was a bit stunned by the 50% hehe. Wow this is gonna involve alot of research for me on all these different treatments. I dont like research

Thanx for ur post!

My red marks look a TON like yours! I'm also going on tane in a week, i'm so excited! Did you clear up that much after only one month??

What do u mean did i clear up that much after only 1 month??

Ok with the pics below...... i only started roaccutane because my skin did a crazy while using Proactiv! :wall::wall::wall: . One shows what it looked like before proactiv and the other shows when i broke out from it - They were pretty lumpy and clusters on my cheek & chin (doesnt look as bad in the pic). However, in the clear photo i still had acne but as u can see it was pretty minor.

Try some gentle peels. Nothing too harsh sweetie. You dont want to further irritate your skin. Keep your head up, you are very beautiful.

True, its very sensitive.

AW how nice of u thaaanks.

AWWW im SO pissed off right now!!!

My mobile phone was stolen out of my bag at work today along with $150

The part that crushes me is, i have like 20 photos of myself in my phone of my face from a lot of angles showing my acne and my spots because i like to keep photos of my progression on there since i dont have a normal camera! I feel so embarrassed and paranoid who took it, whos looking at it, are they going to tell anyone etc. I look terrible and totally upset in the shots, whereas at work i try hide it and keep smiling with my makeup on.. now that someone is going to see the "real me" and probably even talk about it :(

Oh and umm.. i also had some... "interesting" film clips..... yes porn lol  Oh my god im so embarrassed someones looking through my phone!!!!!!

*breaathhhhee*

if you'ree on accutane the red marks will probally fade by themselves as you shed like 3000000 layers of skin later into the treatment...

that sucks about your phone haha

The redmarks fade with time. To speed them up consider Obagi 4% hydroquinion cream.

Everyone thinks this stuff is bad for you, short term (to clear it is not).

Actually everything is bad for you come to think of it........

Do what you feel best.

The Obagi 4% worked for me........

Hmm thanks.. bout seems like all these creams mentioned cant be used whilst on roaccutane. think ill stick with aloe vera. I had my derm appointment today and she said its not bout the creams and i shudnt be focusing on that, its all about "time" lol, love how everyone says that. but i believe it..

Oh yeah she stressed for me to stay outta the sun and not to put any strong thick suncream on my face. apart from that she thinks things are goin well. my blood tests are exceptional apparently :) ill c her again in 2months
