For those on Accutane with Insurance living in the US

Recommended Posts

Those of you in the United States with Insurance, how much do you pay total every month? ( Including Derm visit, Blood work, Accutane)

ALso what insurance are you under? What brand? What plan?

I think it'd be cheaper to get an insurance rather than pay for all that stuff out of one's pocket.

I'm sure this post can help many of us. Please let us know.

Derm Copay: 30$

Bloodwork: about $68 (what insurance doesn't cover)

Amnesteen (generic): 10$ copay

Total: 108$/ month

(Required birth control pill copay is an additional 20$)

I have Cigna, PPO plan, not the HMO, so I never ever need a referral.....I can see whoever I want, as long as they are in my network....I get it through my job, it's about 120$ a month (which I don't notice since it comes out of my paychecks, pre-tax)....

Unless you get insurance through your job, it can be expensive. My fiancee pays about $400/ month for Horizon Blue Cross.....and his is an HMO....but he has lower copays than I do.......

When I went on accutane I had Aetna, and the derm visit was 30 dollars, the pills were 20 dollars, and the blood work was nothing.

Now I have Cigna which I don't like.

I have health america.

I pay $5/month for accutane (would be $620 without insurance)

my derm co-pay is inconsistent. some times it's $10, sometimes it's $20, and sometimes it's free.

my blood work is free.

Now I have MVP

Derm visit $25

Generic tane $5

Bloodwork is free

I =had= GHI just before starting. It would have been:

Derm visit $25

Tane $770 [non formulary drug]

Bloodwork free

Obviously, I had to switch plans.

My insurance is Tricare Standard...but it is only available to military dependents/retirees.

I pay $150 deductible, and then when that is met, I pay about $6 per appt, $3 per prescription, and $10 for my "acne surgery" (a facial, which is billed at $225).

derm visit = $23-$50, whatever they feel like charging that day apparently

blood work = ? It was denied the first time, and I had to pay $200, then I went somewhere cheaper for $100. Turns out they accepted it after I complained, and I still have not received the money back.

accutane = $15

I have an individual anthem plan with a $1000 deductible which does not apply to prescriptions and gives a discount on everything else until the deductible is met.
