My accutane blog with pictures

Hello there :)

I've just started this mysterious, wonderful and hardcore drug 10 days ago

I've started a blog to document it's progress and it's 'damage'.

Please visit

I'm a female with mild acne, 18 years by the way.

Nice blog. I'm only on day 7 so I guess I have a bit to go to see how I'm affected by day 10. I have noticed that my face burns all the time now. lol. I looked at your pictures, and I didn't even notice any acne though, you cover it up well. But, I must say, you're definately a pretty girl! I hope the roaccutane works as you hope!

Hallo!

Thanks for checking out my blog (especially for commenting Jordan), i know it's not completely about accutane

Oh and thanks for the compliments :D

You've motivated me to blog more and more, i just need more roaccutane effects to kick in haha!

It's true my skin isnt that bad, but it use to be. While in the 4 month waiting list to see the dermo my doctor prescribed my retin a and antibiotics, while this cleared up a great deal i was told it was only temporary and if i got off it the acne would return :doubt: and who wants to be on antibiotics forever

Thanks again, please leave comments, they make me smile!

[Edit]

oh i just received another comment from you Jordan, thanks for the advice i am taking essential fat supplements. They're to aid my study, but hey, two birds - one stone :)

wow, way to be supportive

seriously the (bad) side effects are very rare and as long as she's responsible and doesn't get pregnant and being supervised by a doctor she sould be fine. what permanent damage are you talking about? I've spoken with several(in person, not on these boards.) people who have taken accutane years ago and they said it was the best thing they have ever done.

personally i'm more afraid of the long term effects of antibiotics than accutane.

Lovebea, i appreciate your concern

But i have suffered from pretty bad acne for a long time, it's more of a problem on my back than my face.

But more importantly, the dermatoligist (a trained specialist) used his expert judgement to decide that the good outweighs the bad and prescribed this to me.

even when the acne on my back clears, i still have scarring to deal with, so i'm glad i didnt wait a day longer.

I know I'm lame for being so negative about it. I just worry. I missed gabbys response so I went to edit this. I guess I didn't take into consideration that your back might have been the part that is suffering. I hope all goes good. Just... look out for yourself that's all. I have scarring to go through to, I'm going to get treatments to work on them though... what do you think you're going to do about yours??

quote removed

well thank you for looking out for our health but, the risks of accutane have been greatly blown out of proportion (except the pregnancy risk, you are required legally to use 2 methods of birth control to be prescribed accutane in the US.)

and most derms do prescribe it. (most gp's won't though because that isn't their area of speciality and it should be left to a derm to decide whether or not this medicine is prescribed to someone.)

generally accutane is safe if the people taking it are responsible and get periodic blood tests to make sure everything is going well. and if they can manage to not get pregnant for 6 months.

they musn't be very good derms, or they're just lazy and don't want to do the paper work which is often the case.
