Can;t we just take multi-vitamin which does all of that?

No, the amount of gamma-linolenic acid necessary to regulate prostaglandins production will never be found in the serving size of a common multi-vitamin. So you would need more servings which would result in a toxic and very harmful hypervitaminosis ... not to mention that certain vitamins in supplement form are dangerous even in small doses

I am skin care freak.. Readed tons of articles books about skin care and anti-aging.. So now in this supplement choused elements that imporantant for skin and make boost healing:

--------------------------------------

GRAPE SEED EXTRACT:

Grape Seed Extract which is high in Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins (OPC’s or PCO’s) is powerful antioxidant which can reduce the damage done by free radicals, strengthen and repair connective tissue, and promote enzyme activity. OPC’s can also help moderate allergic and inflammatory responses by reducing histamine production.

Antioxidants are important protectors of health because they provide electrons that neutralize "free radicals"

Skin Care:

PCO products help protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation damage that leads to wrinkles and skin cancer. Because it stabilizes collagen and elastin, PCO can help improve the elasticity and youthfulness of the skin. PCO strengthens the connective tissue of the skin and fat chambers. People taking grape seed extract PCO have noticed that it helps tonify their skin and reduce cellulite, stretch marks, and old scars. There is speculation that cellulite may be a sign of bioflavanoid deficiency.

* Enhanced capillary strength and vascular function, which helps the heart and decreases: PMS problems, bruising, edema from injury or trauma, varicose veins, leg swelling and retinopathy.

* Enhanced immune resistance.

* Increased peripheral circulation, improving vision.

* Reduced adverse allergic and inflammatory responses.

* Reduction in skin aging and loss of elasticity.

-----------------------------------

Alpha lipoic acid: good for skin care?

Many if not most skin care conscious people have heard about alpha lipoic acid (often called lipoic acid for short). These days the number of skin care products with lipoic acid is growing as rapidly as its media coverage. However, as many consumers know from personal experience, neither media coverage nor acceptance by skin care companies guarantees effectiveness or even safety. So, what do we really know about lipoic acid in general, and its purported skin care benefits in particular.

Lipoic acid is a well-known natural substance found in certain foods and also produced in the human body. It has an impressive array of potentially beneficial mechanisms of action:

* Lipoic acid is a potent and versatile antioxidant.

* It is a co-factor in a key biochemical pathway responsible for energy production in the cells (citric acid cycle).

* It inhibits cross-linking which is the formation of chemical bridges between proteins or other large molecules. Cross-linking contributed to the aging process by causing hardening of arteries, wrinkling of the skin and stiffening of joints.

* It has moderate anti-inflammatory effect.

* Finally, it has a capacity, albeit a modest one, to neutralize and remove from the body a variety of toxic metals.

Lipoic acid supplements have been repeatedly demonstrated to benefit a number of health conditions, including the neurological complications of diabetes, arterial sclerosis and others.

-------------------------------------------------------

DMAE :

A precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, DMAE - the acronym for dimethylaminoethanol - is widely believed to increase the firmness and elasticity of skin, when applied topically. It is found in numerous skin creams, and is said to have a "dramatic effect" on "facial sag" and on loose skin on the rest of the body, including "saddle bags" and the dimpling effect of cellulite.

It is possible to make your own skin cream, using a few of the ingredients thought to revitalize the skin, including DMAE, alpha lipoic acid, hyuralonic acid, vitamin C and NaPCA. A good base for the fat-soluble alpha lipoic acid and vitamin C is jojoba oil, while the NaPCA acts as a solvent for the other incredients. Mix these together in varying quantities, dependent on your skin-type needs. For example, some may be more comfortable with a less oily formula, and others with more oil. What is generally agreed is that in order for results to be seen from oral application, fairly large amounts of ALA and DMAE need to be used.

DMAE used topically may increase the firmness of the areas where it is applied. However, since little DMAE is likely to be absorbed into the bloodstreamn in this manner, it probably does little to increase longevity, unless ingested orally. If oral DMAE improves skin texture, we may logically conclude that it may also assist in increasing longevity. Our skin is in fact an organ, reflecting the overall well-being of our entire body!

In other words, the skin's health is a sign of our general health. If our skin remains relatively young, firm and elastic, we can assume so too will our blood vessels, veins and arteries, as well as the tissues of our internal organs, such as our heart, brain, lungs and kidneys remains youthful.

how the hell do you guys know all this shit?

The common function is "antioxidant".

I like this sentence:

"the skin's health is a sign of our general health. If our skin remains relatively young, firm and elastic, we can assume so too will our blood vessels, veins and arteries, as well as the tissues of our internal organs, such as our heart, brain, lungs and kidneys remains youthful".

I have been reading and watching some articles and presentations, the sentence/truth that makes me now care about my skin is:

"the skin' health is the mirror reflection of internal's health".

I now truly believe this, look at some vegetarians or people who eat so healthy, they have beautiful and young skin.

Same way people with acne who use topicals know what Retin-A, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are, and that you want to take Accutane with fat and avoid dairy within an hour before or after antibiotics...

Except knowledge about your food and body will get you way farther then knowing that Retin-A exfoliates skin.
