Azelaic Acid for minor acne...advice needed please!

Hello all,

I suffer from a breakout of perhaps 2 or 3 spots a month. Very minor I know, but the spots do tend to be rather red and large and, although pustular rather than cystic, they are an annoyance and I bloody hate the buggers!

Can anyone tell me their experiences on Azelaic Acid and if there is an initial breakout please? I don't want to use the product to clear a few spots and hault any further breakouts only to have to deal with an initial breakout as always happens with products such as Retin A and Differin. Is my acne even bad enough to warrent the use of this product?!

Also, lastly, I have a fare complexion (when I'm not fake tanned!!) and am slightly concerned that this cream might change my skin colouring, as I have heard it can cause hypopigmentation? Is this true and has anyone experienced it?

Many thanks everyone!
