Finally some peace and quiet.

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I've been reading these boards for some time now and even trying some of the things others have found success with. The truth FOR ME is exactly what my acupuncturist told me years ago: diet only superficially affects acne. My skin has never been worse than when I was eating my cleanest, taking supplements and juicing. The only thing that makes sense to me is that the desperation of trying to find something that would clear my skin stressed me out so badly that I broke out horribly.

I find that what works for me is hormonal balance. BCP, Chinese herbs to dry my skin. I also use *Flora-Balance* to keep the candida down, exercise (esp. yoga and jogging) to detoxify the skin by sweating, using a skin brush in the shower and eating a little crap now and then. Yes, crap. I find that if I give my liver a little garbage to chew on my whole system functions a bit better. I don't advocate super-processed or fried foods at ALL, but a hamburger or piece of bread, even a little sugar doesn't really affect me. Some foods don't agree with my insides, so I try to stay away from those, but everything in moderation seems to work well.

My acne is hormonal, which means that I am incredibly sensitive to stress. If I am restricting my diet so that I'm not enjoying eating, or feeling fatigued because I'm afraid that any food available to me during the day doesn't fit my diet, or worst of all I'm stressed by the acne that's flaring up on my face, it gets worse. And honestly, honestly, honestly it is much better this way. I don't take 48 supplements (and I've tried them all, from coconut oil to broccoli), I don't try and cleanse when my G.I. tract is already working fine, I feel more rested, and I enjoy myself when I go to a friend's house to eat dinner and they've cooked something off the "diet" I used to impose on myself.

We only get one go-round, please enjoy!!

:D

I definately disagree with your opinion that diet only superficially affects acne.

Even if diet was only 1/3rd of the answer next to hormones and stress, that would be more than superficial.

Still glad your finding something that works though.

I have to say that I totally agree with everybody who is saying that everyone's body is different. I guess what I was trying to say in my original post is to try and find out what exactly our individual bodies need and then gently accomodate. That seems to make the least stress (and less zits!).

For my hormones I take birth control pills, but over the years those have helped less and less. In being forced to find other solutions, I've gone to an acupuncturist and a Chinese herbalist. Chinese herbs are AMAZING and incredibly potent! (if you can stand the horrible taste) The acupuncture is great for de-stressing and healing. I highly recommend Chinese medicine, it's all about bringing the body into balance and calm.

BC pills cause candida overgrowth. That's probably why your acne got worse...and your hormonal issues are probably due to a congested liver.

Everyones body is different? Now come on thats just silly, when it comes down to our insides everyones body is the same plan, same layout. What makes us different is our minds, perspectives and thoughts. There is only one solution to this problem most of us face, but we all see it differently, so that we can understand it.

I don't think this will be understood the way i meant, but i have a problem with expressing my thoughts into words.

^ ^ ^ It's pretty common sense that our bodies are biologically different through genetics and hereditary traits. We may have the same organs, but do we all have the exact makeup of cells?
