For those who get clear from elimination of grains..

Recommended Posts

Can you eat starchy veggies like potatoes carrots etc without breaking out?

How about beans?

Buckwheat or quinoa?

Just curious. I would like to try some other foods that have the filling effect of grains.

thanks!

well...I can't eat potatoes but I can eat carrots. Beans are fine.

I asked a naturopath about the grains and was told we can eat organic:

-millet hulled

-quinoa

-rolled oats

(I eat it with rice milk and fresh berries for breakfast)

Most people seem to have a gluten intolerance if there is an issue with grains. In my case, it is all grains, even quinoa which causes acne. Potatoes, even in large quantities do not give me acne.

I have allergies to grasses and grains are domesticated grasses-wonder if there is a correlation.

However, grains are very addictive and I always end up eating them after periods of not eating them. They give some kind of calming effect- very bad, probably the root cause of eating disorders, but this is another topic.

Blesses, maryann

They give you the calming effect because they make tryptophan more available to the brain. This is very good. I think you are a bit mistaken. But bananna's are a great tryptophan source too, as is milk / egg protein. So you're not exactly missing out on wonderful tryptophan (have I ever mentioned how much I like it? It makes you sleep like a baby!) by eliminating all grains.
