hairloss, propetia & roaccutane

hey guys

i'm a 22/m currently on 20mg/day of Roaccutane.

i am already experiencing mild hair loss and already on propetia before taking roaccutane. now, with roaccutane (3rd month), i'm begining to notice more hair loss (eg. on my pillow) etc.

does anyone have any insight as to the mix of propetia? as in, does it prevent hairloss due to Roaccutane or since i'm on Roaccutane, there's no point in going on propetia since Roaccutane's gonna cause hair loss anyway? or the etc. ?

many thanks!

the drug is called Propecia, and it will not help with Roaccutane caused hairloss. Propecia reduces DHT enzyme 2, ie the androgen that is responsible for Male Pattern Baldness. Roaccutane causes hairloss in the same way Vitamin A Toxicity would.

when you say 'toxicity', you mean to say i'm reacting overtly towards Roacc?

Too much vitamin A is toxic. Roaccutane side effects mimic those of a Vitamin A overdose because Roaccutane is a Vitamin A derivative.

I am using the Nioxin hair system and taking Biotin, Zinc, and Iron. My hairloss has subsided a little bit but it is one of the unfortunate s/e of accutane. Good Luck.

In most cases hair loss due to accutane is temporary. Don't worry, It will most likely grow back once you are done with your course.

On a tangent, have you had any success with the Propecia?

my boyfriend had really great results from propecia (he was not on accutane).
