Switching Antibiotics

Hello all,

I've been on two 6-month courses of accutane, and about 4 or 5 months ago I started breaking out again. So my doctor put me on minocycline (100mg/day), and I've been taking that for several months but it just doesn't seem to be helping with my breakouts. So, she said I might want to switch antibiotics, and she gave me a prescription for erythromycin (1000mg/day). I just want to know 2 things:

1.) Can I start taking the erythromycin right away? I don't have to let the minocycline clear out of my body first, right? I just don't want to spend a couple days taking no antibiotics at all, because that would be really bad for my skin. And are there any dangers to switching antibiotics as suddenly as I am?

2.) Is erythromcin good for fighting acne, especially if minocyline hasn't worked?

Thanks guys.

does anyone have any advice?

I take E-mycin also...333MG 3 times day. It works well, but i wouldn't DARE solely rely on it to fight your acne. It's a good backup upon your regimon....personally i've tried the megadosing of B5...5g a day is my target..along with the E-mycin...we'll see how it works..it should take care of the excess oil and all but stop the entire acne cycle.
