Apple Cider Vinegar

Recommended Posts

I think I have hyperpigmentation... so I'll give this a try :D Can it be used with baking soda? I've also read here a lot about it and it sounds wonderful!

Thank you!

few questions, do u apply this once every night?

Do u wash it off after 10 mins?

In which order do u use it, e.g. my regimen currently is (morning and night), facewash, red light on marks, retin a, moisturize, where would i fit ACV in?

Thanks

It's varies a lot from person to person.

I apply mine once every other night, after I've cleansed my face. That's all I do - no moisturiser on top, just leave the ACV to work on the skin without adding other ingredients from other products on top.

Your regimen looks pretty loaded - I don't think it's a good idea using Retin-A and ACV together - maybe use one at AM and the other at PM? Or alternate them? That way your routine would be facewash --> red light --> [retin-a or ACV] --> moisturiser.

As for my progress, been using this every other night for only about two weeks though I think I missed a couple of nights, so it's still too early to tell. I think this makes my whiteheads come up more though as every morning after using this, I notice a new whitehead that wasn't there before. Other than that, haven't noticed anything else.

Will keep posted though.

ok thanks, i ordered the bragg one as ones with the 'mother' in it are hard to find in the UK grocery shops and if it smells then will use it in the PM and retin a in the AM.

However i will be using a cream afterwards in the PM, which is doing ok since i have stated it, just a bit expensive though.

That sounds okay. ACV reeks so you're definitely better of using it in the PM :P Good luck :)

As for my progress, I'm pretty positive that this is causing me to break out in many whiteheads on my chin. I've also noticed a few bumps on my cheeks but not sure whether that was ACV or my regular breakouts. It's sometimes really hard to tell what aggravates your skin when your skin is always breaking out anyway. However, since my chin really doesn't break out so much but it is going crazy nowadays, I'm very inclined to attribute that to the ACV.

Anyway, I'm going to use a honey mask today and hope a lot of my redness/flakiness calms down from it.

I have a question

How many times do you guys usually apply it per day?

I do it just once every night. Or should I say DID - because for now, I'm putting this on hold as I'm trying out Manuka Oil. I also think I need to dilute mine a bit more as it keeps causing me to get whiteheads. Other than that, I like the way my face looks right after applying ACV -sort of fresher and cleaner, less clogged I suppose.

Hi guys, just a quick question really:

I'm quite paranoid after using ACV for a while, unfortunately it didn't improve my skin texture after using it for a few months but I did seem to get less spots with it.

Just wondering, are there any known side effects with ACV? If it's not doing a great deal for me I don't want to continue it and risk having other issues, for example accelerated ageing etc.

You can get apple cider vinegar from some chemists or a health food shop like Holland & Barrett but it's usually not organic and is filtered. I think thats what you've got already.

The best kind is raw-unfiltered with the 'Mother' in it. You can get Bragg's on amazon for about £10- pricey but it is supposed to be the absolute best.

I am officially trying this:

Regimen (AM and PM)

Face wash with Clearasil, or 2x a week with King of Shaves scrub.

ACV toner applied using cotton wool.

Skinoren Cream (Azelaic acid)

E45 Moisturising Lotion

Pop 2x Oxytetracycline antibiotics.

searched a lot in this thread and couldn't find answer to how much u should actually use on your face. I know it says dilute 50/550 with water, but how much do u need? Enough to just lightly apply all over your face, or dampen it? If u mix a solution how long can u use it for, or do u need to make a fresh solution everyday? (It doesn't need to be refrigerated does it?

The easiest way is to get an empty bottle of toner or something of that size and make up a batch of it. I dilute mine about 50/50 but if you feel that might be too strong - ie - if it stings your skin, add more water. How you apply is up to you really, the easiest way would be to get a cotton ball/pad and gently wipe over your face - I leave mine on overnight and wash off in the morning.

No, I don't refrigerate mine - since my vinegar doesn't require refrigeration, I figured the made-up toner wouldn't either. I don't think there's any harm in keeping yours in the fridge but then I'm not too educated about this aspect of things so don't quote me here :P

How often you use it is again, down to your personal experience with ACV. Some people use it twice daily, others every night and still others use it more sparsely - experiment and see how your skin responds and adjust accordingly.

I've been applying ACV for the last month after finding this thread a while back. I haven't been extremely consistent, but I think I've averaged five applications per week.

I use it at night before going to sleep and leave it on until I shower in the morning. I do not dilute it at all and I apply it with a cotton ball to my back and face. I have not had any irritation or dryness, but my skin is not very sensitive.

I've had large pimples on my back, chest, and arms consistently since my early teens. Despite having a good physique, I was still self-conscious about going without a shirt. After just 4 weeks of the ACV, my back is almost entirely clear. Give it some time to work. I started seeing results after 10-15 days.

The only drawback is the smell. I bought some saclicylic acid solution to apply in the morning in conjunction with the ACV at night since I don't want to walk around smelling like vinegar.

I've also been much better about resisting the temptation to pick on new pimples. If you are bad about this, you must find a way to stop. I would squeeze hard on undeveloped pimples in an effort to pop them which made them extremely noticeable and seemed to clog nearby pores.

I'm glad to finally make some progress after 10+ years with bacne. Thanks!

weeeell i just recently had huge cystic breakout, picked and was left with 14 large scabs over week ago. They've all gone but now left with those lovely red marks and i'm so sick of this, have tried so much over the years except this ACV method which i am intrigued by, so ordered some and should be getting it tomorrow. I'll keep you guys posted!

YOOOOOO. How should i incorporate this into my routine. I'm currently washing with cetaphil cleanser than using tretinoin .05 20-30 mins later. Do I use ACV after i cleanse then wait to use tretinoin cream? And do i wash it off or leave it on if I'm using the cream?

If you're sure this is what's breaking you out, stop using it. Despite the generally positive response to ACV, it doesn't work wonders for everyone. I broke out from it too but I'm putting that down to not diluting it enough; I'll try it again at a later date. Try using Manuka oil instead, I've had good results from it - it really helps calm your skin and just works great for zapping those nasty red, raw zits that hurt and take forever to go away.

i've been using both apple cider vinegar for approximately 2 weeks now. i have had reduced redness on my post acne marks (im currently on tane) but i am not sure if it is the vinegar or the baking soda mask i have been using earlier. either way, i really saw a small improvements. i am currently using Braggs organic ACV w/ 'the mother'.

i use acv as a toner after i wash my face each day and let it stay on (till i head out) and drink a teaspoon of it diluted w/ water once i wake up once or twice a day. if reduced redmarks is what u want i wld suggest u guys to check out baking soda mask too

Hey! ok The red marks left after acne are a huge thing with me... like i always get them and they suck a lot! so anyway... I was wondering if this would be acceptable to use with accutane (i'm about to start that...) cause my doctor said not to use any meds while i'm on it... but this isn't like a cream or anything... so i was wondering if anyone knows if it's safe to use or if it will totally mess me up...

I have started using the Clear 2% BHA toner from Paula's Choice, and it seems to be clearing up my skin (fingers crossed). I haven't had a new pimple in over a week :)

Now I would like to fade some of my acne scars, so I have ACV and I've made a toner out of it. But I don't know whether I can use both ACV and the PC toner 2x a day? Or would it be best to use one morning, and one night?
