Apple Cider Vinegar

yo pumpkin,

has using ACV stopped oil production on your face? it sure has done it to mine lol (i hope its not permanent either cause i want my face to be oily in the future).

this is really strange, it seems like the same thing happened to me! i can't imagine why though... how strange. when i wake up, my nose is really shiny from oil and stuff, but yesterday night i applied the acv and when i woke up, my nose was DRY.. it was the strangest thing ever because my nose is so greasy

thats awsome .. have you noticed a difference through out the day with oilyness?

yes, i have!! i carry around blotting paper everywhere because my nose gets an oily-sheen layer every couple hours. it's almost 4:00pm here, and I've only blotted once today. I really really hope this isn't just a temporary effect!! I haven't been doing anything new to my skin other than the ACV, so it probably is due to the acv toner. this is amazing! thanks SO much for the suggestion, it's ridiculously effective. one of my redmarks has actually completely faded (it was small to start with, but still), and i think i see a change in the other redmarks. fantastic suggestion really.

hey cucumber! i have a big problem with oiliness on my face too. how do you use ACV? do you use it neat, or mix it with water (what ratio?)? did you leave it on for say 10 minutes then wash off, or just leave it on all night?

thanks! i don't want to have to blot my face so often:(

you just use 100% ACV and apply it on your face with a cotton pad. just leave it on your face, it dries quick and the smell goes away. you dont need to wash it off.

i do it 1:1 water:acv and leave it on, don't wash it off. i put it on 1-3 times a day. but then again, the only part of my face that's really oily is my nose and the cheek area adjacent to the nose.

this is so amazing, pumpkin! again, thank you sooo much. it's almost 12am now, and by this time i can actually see the oil seeping out of my pores, but right now, i don't and it's absolutely fantastic. THANKS!!

hey pumpkin and nec77, thanks for the quick replies! i can't really afford to put ACV on my face like 3x a day, because i have school and all. however, now that you guys talk about ACV reducing sebum, i remember about a week ago, i tried putting ACV on my face for like 10 minutes before washing it off (cause the smell was so damn bad). the next day my nose was unusually NOT oily. i hadn't thought it had anything to do with the ACV, because i only put it on for such a short while. but after that the oiliness came back. i hadn't changed anything in my regime throughout that period, and now on hindsight i'm pretty sure it had something to do with the ACV. i will keep trying it again, and tell you guys how it works out;)

i know the smell is kind of bad .. but it is worth it .. you get use to it afetr awhile. I dont think no amt. of essential oil will reduce the smell probobly only make it worse. Although doing 50/50 with water does reduce the smell alot .. so u might as well do that if u can't handle pue ACV, the only thing is it may take longer to see results.

If your going to school just doing as often as you can when you come home .. are you in college or HS?

pumpkin, i'm still in high school. i'm 16;) i start school at 7.20am and usually come home at around 2pm. i have my shower at 7pm, and immediately after that i put moisturizer on my face, so it's impossible to put on the ACV anytime after that.

i'll see how to works out leaving the ACV on for a while then washing it off first;)

:dance: i love how this gets rid of oiliness. it's astounding. do you think it could eventually help get rid of blackheads, because the oil isn't oozing out so much anymore?

I'm trying this ACV thing. (I ran out of Duac gel, so now I'm using the tea tree oil I bought at a Renaissance Faire instead as well ^_^;; ) I haven't noticed that much of a difference, yet, but I don't seem to be getting any more acne than I was on Duac a week or so ago. If you look at my signature-- how do you think that regimen sounds?

*crosses fingers* Hope this works!

hey pumpkin-

my skin's gotten to the point where i have to blot only once (or no times) a day... do you think this could have any potential negative effects? like being too drying? cause trust me, my t-zone was oiiiiiiiiiily and now it's completely dry.

i kind of want to experiment and stop doing the acv toner to see if the oiliness comes back. if it does then that means either 1) the acv is more or less permanent or 2) it is definitely the acv and not my skin being funky... what do you think?

from what ive beeb reading (googled: acv for oily skin) and i found alot .. apparently ACV neutralizes the skin and gives it a normal pH level .. this gets rif of the oilyness and if u rinse ur hair in it .. it will get rid of the greasyness and bring out your natural highlights. I will probobly do that today or 2morrow. So don't worry the ACV isnt having a negative affect on ur skin in fact it is improving it.

:) try exfolating that helps me out alot with blackheads

Hrm..I think the ACV has worsened my red marks? I wonder if I did something wrong.

honestly, i dont see how thats possible or why that would happen  maybe you should still keep doing it .. maybe it is another product you are using.

Apple Cider Vinegar - Apple cider vinegar is the most common form of vinegar used to treat acne, but you can also use normal vinegar, just be sure to dilute it first. Vinegar kills bacteria, absorbs excess oil on your skin, and can also balance the pH of your skin (this makes it perfect for using after a baking soda scrub).

After cleansing, apply vinegar, which is diluted 8 parts water to one part vinegar (this is just a starting point, you can increase the vinegar ratio later), to your face using a cotton ball. You can either apply the vinegar and just leave it on, or apply it thicker than normal and rinse it off after 10 minutes.

You may also be interested in substituting lemon (or lime) juice for the vinegar. Lemon juice contains citric acid, a very powerful form of alpha-hydroxy acid, which will exfoliate your skin and efficiently remove marks left behind by acne.

with vinegar being very acidic don't you need something to neutralise it?

if people do do this what do they use and at what point in your routine do you use it?

thanks
