I've been using the whole BP regimine for awhile now and I love it, no complaints it's worked wonders for me. But I recently found out I was pregnant and BP is contraindicated during pregnancy, aswell as SA and all prescription medications. This is what my OB-GYN has told me, not just some random internet info. So I need something else that will be somewhat effective yet still safe for me to use.

Try tea tree oil. It stinks and it doesn't work as fast but it's a proven alternative

Thanks, I'll give the Tea Tree Oil a try.

What my OB-GYN said about it was that there hadn't really been any studies showing it was harmfull or not in pregnancy. But that since it is absorbed into your system, and it is a pretty harsh chemical just in general. It's better to just avoid it incase it does cause problems.

Benzoyl peroxide is a Category C drug.

Your doctor is right.

You should ask your doctor or pharmacist for recommendations on what is safe to use to treat your acne during pregnancy.

and congrats on the pregnancy!

Here's another natural treatment that I found with great reviews:

http://www.folica.com/101E_Acne_Getaw_d64.html

According to the company, it is safe for pregnant women. So if TTO doesn't work you may want to give it a try. Of course, always consult with your doctor about the ingredients.

Azelaic acid is another prescription acne product but there are no adequate human studies yet on it to prove that it is safe to administer.

Same with erythromycin. Only in animal studies that it has been found to be safe.
