All bar soaps can clog pores because of the ingredients that keep them in bar form. In addition, they typically have alkaline pHs (which encourages bacterial growth) and use harsh cleansing agents (which can prematurely kill skin cells, thus littering the skin with more dead skin cells than it can naturally slough off).

A good ingredients dictionary is:

A gentle, non-medicated, non-bar cleanser is best.
