About 6ish months ago I started getting bad acne when I hadn't before. I overhauled my skincare routine, went dairy free, tried all kinds of things but the acne just seemed resistant to whatever I did, and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. I finally caved and went to a dermatologist when I admitted that whatever I was trying wasn't working. She prescribed the two things mentioned and also recommended toning down my skincare to the basics and using really gentle products. Now I only wash once a day and avoid a lot of products that can possibly irritate my skin. Another thing I've had to learn is to not pick at my skin even if a whitehead looks so tempting. Finally, the acne started to chill out, I still get a few spots here and there but it went from new pimples appearing daily to just a couple throughout a week and they usually go away as quickly as they appear, given I don't mess with them. The scarring will take longer to fade but I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing since its helping me.
