Fungal acne

happily after

Its been a very long while since I updated here. Because my acne issue is pretty much 100% under control until a few weeks ago. I wanted to find a oil or balm cleanser that can remove waterproof makeup or sunscreen effectively and can be rinsed off with water. So I tried Clinique take the day off balm. Big mistake! I broke out badly especially on my chin... And then I stumbled upon a very helpful and informational website called simple skincare science and learned there is a type of acne that is caused by fungus.. and I think to my self, no wonder baking soda was working on my acne so well because it kills fungus on my skin. But I also learned baking soda is extremely bad thing to put on skin.. In addtion, moisturizing skin is very important for every skin type including oily skin . Moisturizer is something I did not use for a very long time since I have oily skin... No wonder even though my acne was under control while using baking soda but my skin just looked sallow and dull because my skin was just dehydrated for years! Then I went ahead and stop using baking soda on my skin, avoid all products that contain fungal feeding ingredients and start to use moisturizer. I cannot be happier with the results. Not only no more acne popping up but also those pesky blackheads are virtually gone and my skin looks more alive! One thing I do want to mention is that MCT oil and squalane oil unfortunately caused breakouts even though simple skincare science highly recommended it. Another thing I want to mention I went to doctor and got antibiotics for bad breakouts caused by Clinique take the day off balm.

Current skin care routine

Vanicream facial cleanser

Face cotz tinted physical sunscreen

Benefit professional primer

Eltamd pure physical sunscreen

Laura Mercier long wear foundation

Skin status

100% clear of acne

Virtually clear of blackheads

Some discoloration from breakouts. Very large pores mixed with some indented acne scares.

Main concern now is how to treat texture skin issue from large pores mixed with indented acne scars.

I bought 5 courses of laser Genesis facial to treat skin texture issue. That was recommended by the esthetician.

Homemade oil cleanser (90% mineral oil and 10% Cromollient SCE)

Update: Cromollient SCE break me out so now I just use 100% mineral oil and wipe off with a washcloth.

Cetaphil gentle cleanser

Hadalabo premium toner

Stratia niacinamide

Hadalabo gel cream

Cerave cream in tub

Tretinoin gel %0.1. skip if skin is peeling until good.

When skipping tretinoin, use Vaniply ointment to accelerate healing of scaly skin.
